      I feel like these images should make me feel rage, which they do, but I wasn’t expecting the overriding emotion to be a deep sadness for something lost that we’ll never get back.

      Over in the conservative sub they are saying that the east wing wasn’t that historical and only 80 years old and that the white house had to use large tents and portaloos when hosting large events in the past.

      This is gonna be a literal throne room just to trigger the libs. Its also going to be so god damn gold and gaudy you won’t be able look ANYWHERE while inside without the constant reminder that this was Trump’s, and he was the president, for as long as it stands.

      The real question is, what about the rest of the White House? Sure, Trump will now have a huge ballroom for some of his parties, but won’t he also need a discotech and a gambling casino to complete his dream? I mean, there will be plenty of space to build these once the West wing and the main building are torn down so that Trump will be able to throw the greatest parties any US President in history has ever thrown.

      I don’t know, the more I think of it the more I think fuck that house. It hasnt stood for or represented us for a very long time, if it ever did.

      Of all the bullshit this admin is pulling. This is the least offensive to me, aside from the fact that I’m sure we’re paying for it. In a generation or two when the revolution comes, the freedom fighters will probably take the whole thing down anyway lol.

      I’m an architect. A 7-11 couldn’t proceed with construction this fast and with this little over site. Typical construction required tons of plans and approvals to guarantee structural stability, safety and environmental protection. I would imagine that anything touching the White House would be at least twice as complex in dealing with agencies, historical preservation and safety protocols (and secrecy). But here we are, ramming it through.
