Ich fange an zu glauben, dass jedes ausländische Kulturprogramm wohlmeinender Beamter sofort mit einer rassistischen, kunstvollen Kampagne zur Schließung konfrontiert wird, die höchstwahrscheinlich von Anhängern der derzeit üblichen Verdächtigen inszeniert wird. Die Stadtverwaltung sollte diese Proteste einfach ignorieren.

Die Kampagne richtet sich an Einwohner Japans, die bis Ende des Jahres Beiträge veröffentlichen, und stellt ein Budget von 2,65 Millionen Yen (ca. 17.500 US-Dollar) zur Verfügung, um 76 Teilnehmern Preise wie Unterkunftsgutscheine anzubieten.

Well, this racism used to exist beforehand, it just increased exponentially especially after the recent House of Councillors Election. Blame Sanseito for it. Now, loads of ignorants who had no interest in politics, watched an youtube video praising Sanseito, and considering Sanseito’s social media reach, its easy to think why many people who spend a significant time on SNS would fall for this.
One of the only ways Japan survives despite its ageing population is due to foreigners (foreign tourists, foreign workers, foreign businessmen). Nettouyos keep on jumping on the fact that some municipalities have foreigners constituting more than 30% of its total population, but why not think it backwards? If those 30% didn’t exist, would the municipality manage to stand where it stands today?
if anything, values of true Japanese conservatism such as gratefulness, politeness, and warmth hospitality have all started disappearing.
What’s the problem? It looks ok to me.
I mean I believe for this case the scheme is basically inviting future investors.

This sub and r/japan are heavily populated by conservatives in Europe and America who hear about xenophobia in Japan and say „sign me up!“ Annoyed that their home countries aren’t exclusionary enough, they come here and vote accordingly.
Between the xenophobia Stans and the Kremlin bots, the Japan-related subs that don’t screen for actual residents end up so much more politically toxic.
How about Taoists or Zoroastrians next? Then Mormons and Greek Orthodox. Rotate in some new ones every few months. I can’t remember seeing a tourism campaign aimed at a certain religion, though I’m sure it’s been done before. There have probably been many for Jews for Israel, for example.
