And there have been plenty more balloons. We only got to know about that one because civilians saw it. And even then, they let it fly over sensitive sites instead of shooting it down over plenty of virtually uninhabited(by civilians) areas it had to traverse. They waited until it passed over the US to shoot it down, which was humiliating.

So when tgat was happening we had a cellular outage of Verizon and us cellular at the time. My guess was it was to pick up alternative frequencies of ems and military comms.
