I thought this was a weird move for Channel 4 of all places, then I saw

So doing it to make a point, not likely to be something they plan to make a fixture.
I think people need to get over themselves it’s not like C4 pretended it wasn’t an artificial reporter infact that’s the whole point of the story about how AI will become more pervasive in our lives.
Best hope that there’s no sudden issue that requires a newscaster to actually vamp then.
Never mind presenting a balanced view of the news.
This is the big twist at the end of the show – they never state the presenter is AI until just before the credits.
I picked up on the speech patterns being a little off, but tbh it really did the job.
They could’ve used a prettier AI instead of that ugly mug. These people really don’t know a thing about marketing
How many people behind the scenes did it take to make the AI presenter? Did AI take them jobs?
AI worries me. But what worries me more is folk not understanding the point Channel 4 where making here. At least AI won’t be sat in the jury if I ever get arrested for something I didn’t do.
It’s a Daily Mail article so 2 people had a reaction which counts as enough lie about hysteria. Also C4 did it to make a point, as has been said by others.

Probably normal in less than a year. Reminds one of the first rail carriages or escalators at Harrods, with a stiff drink at the top in case the ladies fainted from the rush…
They missed the chance to explain how Corporations & Political Parties will be using A.I. chat bots to defend themselves from controversy on social media sites and push their own agendas.
Reddit and other sites will be nothing but these bots in a few years.

This is actually Channel 4 doing what it should be doing…being different.

We pay hundreds of thousands a year of public money on the BBC for newsreaders to read from a script. Would it not be a better for them to be AI readers so that the journalist newsreaders can concentrate on investigative work, interviews etc.
I spotted it was AI earlier on as I work on doing AI videos. It would fool most people and was really well done. A minor lip sync issue and the flat overly consistence tone was the give away. It needs an emotional tone per paragraph rather than just sentence. Give it a few weeks of progress.

It’s so amazing to watch. I remember playing Deus Ex and thinking the storyline with the AI popstar and news reporters was stupidly futuristic compared to the near-future robot dogs and augmentations, etc.
And yet we ended up there first.
These things will get more common place and probably everyday in a year. It’s good that Channel 4 did it now to force the debate and make people consider the impact of generative ID.
As a society, we’re not prepared for the everyday impact of AI/generative AI. Very soon our news will be dominated by AI created content, that is indestingusable from ‚real‘ content. Consider a video showing something ghastly coming out of Gaza, in a year’s time how could we tell if that’s real or something faked by AI. The same with celebrities. What happens if we have a video of someone confessing to a crime, it all seem real, but could have been faked.
Did the AI presenter write the story? News reporters often do.
If they didn’t then it’s just an avatar.
