You don’t wanna see what lies behind those upticks

Russia population was 146mil at best, during war they grind in meat-wall attacks to get yet another 5 square miles of territory for already biggest country on the planet and they lost at least 1 mil people, AT LEAST. 3 more mil left country after first mobilization wave and only 17% returned back. Plus Russia already had big population decline that barely was compensated by migration from central Asia countries, but they also playing ultra-right and trying to stop migration like not allowing workers bring their families, harass people into living, blocking ways to send money back to families, block workers kids to go to schools, etc.
So this -2% seems very odd to me, it definitely based on Russian own „methods“ of counting and it is way bigger.

Seems like Ireland will one day finally reach again the population numbers they had before the potato famine.

For Estonia and Latvia especially, this includes the large amount of illegal Soviet colonists who left in the early 1990s. Estonians and Latvians are only glad they left and sad that so many remained. Ethnic Estonians have only barely had a negative migration rate since then.

How many are immigrants of these?

Greece having no population change whatsoever after +30 years is truly impressive.

I know, having a map oriented to show north exactly on top is in itself an arbitrary standard. Yet, I think that this tilt is distracting.

Why is the map tilted, this seriously makes me feel uncomfortable

In fact Ukraine’s situation is even worse. In 1992 the population was 52+ million. Now, even according to optimistic estimates, it is around 27 million, and most likely even less.

Ukraine is self-explanatory but wtf happened in the baltics?

Poland, because of Ukraine. Otherwise, it would be also negative, immigrants in west and north. I like how depopulated the Baltic is. I hope we will have a beautiful nature park with lots of wolves, bears, and other animals soon.
