Entscheidend war, dass sie den Überlebenden demütig zuhörte, als sie auf die eklatanten Misserfolge im Bericht der Mother and Baby Homes Commission und den Ausschluss Tausender Überlebender aus dem Wiedergutmachungsprogramm durch die Regierung hinwies.

Heather voted against survivors twice first on the 2020 Records Bill that sealed the Mother and Baby Homes records for 30 years and on the 2023 redress scheme.. yet in one of the interviews or debates she seemed to really struggle answering why.
And I get a president has to be apolitical so this isn’t really relevant, but just seems shitty this is the level of political calling shots. It’s like she never had a moral debate over it, in fact it almost seemed like she forgot.
I have such admiration for this woman and I look forward to celebrating the beginning of her presidency on Saturday.

Honestly, I’ve been a huge fan of hers since her [maiden speech in the Dáil](https://www.oireachtas.ie/en/debates/debate/dail/2016-03-22/speech/268).
She is literally my first preference for President. Back in February when I started to think about the fact that we would have a new President soon, she was the first person that came to mind.
She’s an absolute treasure and will definitely be missed in the Dáil. Hopefully she has inspired someone to take up the torch.
Humphreys voted to keep the mother and baby home records sealed for another 30 years. It will be 2050 before we get another chance at them.
Most of Fianna Fail and Fine Gael voted to seal them. They argued they had no choice despite legal groups at the time saying the reasons they were citing were not mandates and the act itself allowed for governmental discretion.
That’s who I’ve seen every time I saw Humphreys on the debates. I’ll never know my granny and my mum will never know her mum because of Humphreys and the others who voted to seal the records.
Go vote tomorrow. Preferably go vote for someone who actually gave a shit on that day.
I will vote for Connolly tomorrow, I was not going to vote but after watching this I will give her a vote. Roderic O Gorman is a horrible spineless little man.
The same woman also helped to evict families from their homes for her own personal enrichment, there are people who milk the suffering of others for their own benefit.

Good lord, the choice is obvious. Here is someone with at least some form of attempt at ethics, morals, and reaching out locally and globally for the bare minimum of justice.
Michael D. has done a fine job, and had his share of mis-steps, both before and during his tenure, but Connolly has the competency and qualification to go beyond even Higgins. I cannot express how relieved I am that we have such a candidate to represent us.
