    1. That’s a no for me dawg. Ruin one movie franchise and move on to the next. No need to keep kicking it…

I hope it happens, just so I can see keyboard warriors either A.) Finally check out in this franchise forever, and stop bothering people. Or B.) Get so upset that they just walk into this sea.

Either one would be a net win for the internet.

    3. Would love that. He made bold moves with TLJ. If the third movie would have went with it instead of chickening out it could have been a solid trilogy.

Its not his fault they never had a plan.

    4. If it’s a one-off movie that’s disconnected from the rest of the universe, go for it. Johnson absolutely has talent and can make some great stuff. But keep him the hell away from any projects that need to connect to a larger story.

He will subvert expectations by making a two hour movie that is a slo mo zoom in on his taint

    6. Stick to Knives Out mystery movies. Star Wars wasn’t the right fit and it’s glaring.

I really wish Lucasfilm would grab some young directors out of college and just let them cook. Get out of the Hollywood establishment and find some originality for the inevitable next trilogy.

I’m torn between thinking that his star wars movie sucked ass, and the understanding that all three of those movies were trash, and so he can’t be singularly responsible for the middle movies problems. Give him completely new characters, times and places to play with and I’ll watch it, but don’t let him anywhere near established canon.

The guy who murdered the entire franchise in an attempt to subvert the genre, and upend expectations, wants to do what now?

Holy shit… some people just hate the stuff they work on.

last jedi was the best of the awful new trilogy and arguably had the most beautiful cinematography of the entire series, i’d be absolutely ok with Rian getting another movie where he isn’t tied to someone else’s trilogy and can explore what he wants.

Worst saga installment. Made no sense.

But I would love it if Rian got a shot at his own. The film itself was beautiful. Hands down the best looking and brought some fresh ideas

    12. I’d be super down to see Rian jump back into Star Wars as long as he’s let do his own thing. The Skywalker saga should be left to die, and lets do something new and interesting in that universe.

    13. I love Star Wars and I love Rian Johnson but I don’t want this for him. I feel he deserves better than that fucking fandom.

The last Jedi isn’t just a bad Star Wars movie it’s a flat out bad movie.

Eww, god, please no more from him ever. Make him go back to making indie sci-fi and noir films that were good.

    16. He’s a talented filmmaker and I wouldn’t have a problem with him having another shot. Using separate directors without enough continuity between the films was bad production design that directing wasn’t going to fix. The approach was bad but I think Johnson can make a solid film himself.

To quote Michael from the Office, „NOOOOO!! NO GOD! NO GOD! PLEASE NO!

Rian Johnson tried something original and different, and it downright infuriated Star Wars fans. He took every expectation for Last Jedi (being a rehash of Empire Strikes Back) and subverted it.

Empire had the big “Vader is Luke’s father” reveal, so fans expected some major reveal about Rey’s parents, only for them to say Rey was a nobody born to nobodies. She wasn’t special or unique, she was just very in tune with the force like all the other Jedi in the past.

And that was *interesting.* It meant anyone could be a Jedi, anyone could save the universe, and they could rebuild the entire Jedi order (hence the kid grabbing a broom with the force at the end). That at least felt like an interesting direction to go.

Snoke was going to be Palpatine to Kylo’s Vader? Fuck that, killed Snoke dead.

I feel like if he’d have been able to finish out the trilogy with what he set up, Rian could’ve paid off the stuff he set up in Last Jedi, but when fans overwhelmed rejected it, they brought back JJ who just made a rehash of Return of the Jedi, including “somehow Palpatine returned.”

    19. Darth Revan is a great story. Would be great if they did a film on that era.
