I sure did. Was gonna go back after he was rehired but realized I didn’t miss it at all.
I did and then they raised prices. I’m good.
I did and don’t plan on resubscribing anytime soon. Made me realize how little I watch on there, all their marvel shows are terrible, and ANDOR is done.
I’ve gone physical media for a lot of things, too.
My friends with small kids refused to quit, like there’s not always a pile of DVD/Blu-Rays of Disney films at the thrift store.
Edit: Hulu and ESPN, too. There are like 2 shows I want to see on Hulu, but I have such a massive backlog on other services I may never get to it.
ESPN? UFC is going to Paramount and that’s all I had it for.
I cancelled everything. Been playing the shit out of my guitar.
I dumped Disney/HULU bundle the day after they dropped Kimmel. I don’t think I am going back.
Just running through the numbers from the article, because my brain needs to wake up this morning:
3 million cancelled Disney+, and 4 million cancelled Hulu.
However – Disney+ and Hulu both gained around 2 million new subscribers each in September, which is apparently considered above average for them based on past numbers.
So effectively, they only lost 1 million for Disney+ and 2 million for Hulu.
In total, both platforms have over 180 million subscribers each.
Well, when you put it like that, the Kimmel thing was hardly a boycott at all. With the price increase, it sounds like Disney more or less broke even 🙃
Sweet, now let’s get millions off of Spotify next 🤞
I’ve been trying to be more financially responsible and figured one streaming service at a time is enough, this made it an easier decision.
disney needs to be put back to a regular business, they own way too much, can barely imagine anything they already own it.
I was one of them and I am never going back.
lol, because of Kimmel my wife and I sat down and went through all our subscriptions.
Disney+ gone.
Starz gone.
At this point, I’m only going to use an app or two a month. Then I’ll cancel those and switch to another platform for a month. These price increases along with all this censorship bs is ridiculous.
I’ve gotten rid of so many streaming subscriptions this year haha then I discovered free streaming apps like Tubi or Kanopy (through the library), which have been good. Tubi actually has less annoying ads than what you pay for ad-tier level subscriptions through Netflix and Disney and it’s actually free 😆
Yep. I would have resubscribed when they brought him back but then they decided in greed and tone deafness to raise their prices.
And it’s real easy to keep it cancelled since they now raised the price. Smart businessin‘ there, Disney!
Millions is a LOT holy shit, well done
Youtube premium is the only thing ill pay for
I was getting them for free through my Verizon plan and still cancelled.
mlive.com late to the party on this news.
Thrift stores have so many DVDs! I found all 3 toy story and a few other movies for 2 a piece. It’s been so easy because I don’t have time for star wars and the new Disney is slop anyway
I actually was going to cancel mine anyway but the timing lined up lol.
20 bucks with adds. Get the F out with that shit.
Dropped Disney + Hulu because of this. Then dropped Peacock when I had seen them playing ICE recruiting commercials. Sucks because Peacock was pretty decent. Then apple tv price spiked. So stuck with Netflix. Tubi is still great and free.
I did, not because I care about Kimmel, I think he’s talentless, but because they bowed to a fat want to be dictator. Then the raised prices and I lol’d.
Imagine what we could do with a general strike!
The entire chain of events was just breathtakingly stupid. If the goal was to do things in the worst way possibly they succeeded:
1. Cancel Kimmel, many cancel in protest
2. Reinstate Kimmel, MAGA cancel in protest
3. Raise prices, so more people cancel and no one resubs
In my house we cancelled everything and now we get DVDs from the library. We realized how little we were actually fully utilizing the streaming we were paying for.
