Terrible what the wealthy class has done to Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.

I’m really happy I bought my home for $91k back in 2016. The problem is, though I really want to sell it, nothing that I get will be anything better than what I have now. Plus my interest rate is 3.25% and I’ll likely never find that ever again. I’m kind of stuck.

Damn I had no clue about Washington house pricing

Why do people continue to pick such terrible color gradients? Like why are Utah and California essentially the same color, when they’re just as far apart as Utah and Pennsylvania?

These stats don’t tell much without adjusting for property size. Like, I‘m pretty sure, $450k in Montana give you a way bigger home than $450k in New York.

The wealth disparity between different areas of states also skews these numbers.
Take Washington state. The average home price is about 900k in Seattle, whereas it is less than half of that for Spokane. Seattle is a tech hub and one of the wealthiest cities in the world, whereas Spokane is finally coming out of a century long stagnation, with similarities to Rust Belt cities.
I’m sure the latter map is just where there’s a shortage of bootstraps though

As someone that lives in Alabama, I assure you that it isn’t as affordable as it looks. The wages here are incredibly low. The only people that are consistently doing well with the house buying market are work from home types moving from other states. That being said, I’m not 100% sure why you would move from most other states even to own a house here. You will be forced to live next door to Alabamians.

If you want to live in or near Chicago in Illinois, you’re easily looking at $450,000 to $500,000 in more in desirable suburbs. And they all need $50,000 worth of work, at least.

At first I thought it said “Horse” and didn’t realize it was in 100’s of thousands. For a brief, beautiful moment, owning a horse was a possibility.

As someone who lives in Louisiana, it’s a little more complicated than that. My house is affordable; my homeowners’ and flood insurance, not so much.

Ohio is only 240K on average? I know there may be some parts of Cleveland that are sketchy but overall Ohio isn’t a total shithole or anything. In fact Columbus and Cincinatti seem rather decent for the most part and the Ohio economy doesn’t seem to be that bad neither. What’s the catch on Ohio Real Estate?

Wow, you can buy a house for $220 in Alabama???

My poor kids- literally.
comparing this to australian housing prices is kinda crazy, the most expensive average in the US is lower than half of the australian market. for comparison the median house price in australia right now is 857K(aud) which is 1.3mil(usd) [source](https://propertyupdate.com.au/the-latest-median-property-prices-in-australias-major-cities/)
