I remember first attempts in dealing with blindness and even being able to tell dark from light or different shades of blurry mess was considered as a breakthrough and quality of life improvement. Now patients can read with eye implants. Beautiful stuff. Hopefully it won’t cost 10 generations of slavery.

I am a big fan of these kinds of advancements. That said I do worry about people becoming reliant on certain cooperations to continue supporting their implants. After all you can’t just rip it out and replace it because the manufacturer went bankrupt or decides to change or end their support.
