Fun fact: In Brazil, we use French suits, but we call them using the Spanish names

    3. It’s like some card maker went around Europe 400 years ago carrying a printing press and said „Do you just want normal cards, I can have those ready in a minute … or do you want to make up some totally weird shit just for yourself?“

    4. Do they have different face cards? For example the standard card deck has one eyed jacks (spades and hearts) and the king of diamonds has an ax. And the suicide king of hearts has a sword in his head. Also, hearts and diamonds are red, and spades and clubs are black. Some games require red or black to be grouped. For example in euchre the second highest card is the jack of the same color.

Fun facto in Czech Republic. Used are both, German and French, but generaly for different games. German for Mau-Mau or Pantoon, French for Rummy.

    6. This map is bullshit. Gotta be MTG across the board. But especially in Italy.

As an Austrian, I’ve not once in my life seen these „German“ suits, only what I would call „Doppeldeutsche“.

I’m in Slovenia and only saw those German style cards once in my life.

Otherwise we always use the International style.

In switzerland the swiss cards are called german cards. And they are actively used. There is a pretty hard border in the country that splitts who uses french and who uses swiss (german) cards.
