    1. It’s stupid people. Fortunately it’s not as many as it looks like. After all it only takes one person for this kind of impression, but this does not mean that any kind of majority agrees …

Are there signs in slovenia with german names? How is it in south tyrol?

Some people got their knickers in a twist because the government wrote – in addition to the German one- the Slovenian name of the village on that sign….It is as ridiculous at it sounds.

Nazis waren eh nie weg. Aber jetzt sind sie wieder massiv am Start – auf den Straßen, in den Parteien, in den Köpfen.

Was actually my first thought when reading the news: „Great, another idiot wasting tax payers money. Which also comes from them.“

    6. Some people in Carinthia just really, really hate the people in Carinthia who did not give in to the increasing assimilation pressure in the late 19th and early 20th century and instead continued using Slovenian, even though the ancestors of the former also very likely spoke Slovenian 150 years ago.

There’s nothing rational about any of this, and at the same time, there’s no point in denying the history of Carinthia and how important Slovenian was during that time, and there’s also no point in trying to deny the Slovenian speakers in Carinthia their constitutionally protected rights. Minority rights are non-negotiable, end of discussion.

In some valleys of Austria, denazification unfortunately never took place.

It’s stupid, but many carinthians have an apathy against Slovenia which still stems from after WW1 when Slovenia and then the kingdom of Slovenes Croats and Serbs invaded
