News snippet: Ukraine’s president has urged allies against appeasing Russia after returning from a trip to the US, where he failed to secure long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy had flown to Washington after weeks of calls for the weaponry, hoping to capitalise on Donald Trump’s growing frustration with Vladimir Putin after a summit in Alaska failed to produce a breakthrough in the war.
But the Ukrainian leader left empty-handed as Trump eyed a fresh diplomatic effort on the back of last week’s Gaza peace deal.
“Ukraine will never grant terrorists any bounty for their crimes, and we count on our partners to uphold this very position,” Zelenskyy wrote on social media.
He called for decisive steps from European and American allies, adding that it was time for another meeting between the Europe-led “coalition of the willing”.

Hope they can get their hands on some Taurus missiles instead.

If we truly would be so pathetic as to only bend the knee to either USA or Russia and neglect our own manufacturing, we deserve every insult of obsolesence.

In the case of the US, it’s less appeasement and more of just a Russian asset being a useless asshole. Same for Hungary and Slovakia.

He was never going to secure US missiles to use against Putin while Trump is in office. That was always propaganda

Trump’s response: can we keep appeasing Putin instead?

Russia is literally on the brink of economic collapse. We need to keep up the pressure.

Have we tried just giving Putin everything he wants? I hear that it worked in WWII. – Trump

Europe will never back down.
They will leave the US high and dry before stopping support for Ukraine.
And in the mean time, making themselves a big player on the international level/market (again). They’re not going towards isolationism, like the US, in the foreseeable future.

Russia needs to return ALL land they occupy, especially Crimea. All assets frozen in West need to be given to Ukraine as partial War Reparations.
