Trump campaigned on lowering prices for consumers. Not even a year in and this is the result.
Promises made, promises broken.

Trump taking money out of Americans pockets? Who saw this coming

I work in the commercial construction industry, and right now we are seeing a 9% materials cost increase nationally, resulting in about 4.5% overall project cost increase. In an industry where the people maintain contingencies of about 10% to get them through the job in the best of circumstances, this is really brutal.
>Donald Trump just had the most lucrative year of his life. The president is now worth a record $7.3 billion, up from $4.3 billion in 2024, when he was still running for office. The $3 billion gain vaulted him 118 spots on The Forbes 400, where he lands at No. 201 this year… No president in U.S. history has used his position of power to profit as immensely as Trump.

And the republicans don’t see trump as a threat to democracy…_how_, again?
This is $1.2 trillion dollars in one year. Where is SCOTUS‘ ruling and the Major Questions Doctrine?

On the other hand, now he’s unconstitutionally collected a slush fund he can use to bail out Argentina while funding only the government programs he likes in the middle of a shutdown he caused! YAY! /s

The President’s Congressionally unchecked tariffs (130%) will once again be placing an embargo on my industry, my line of work, and the livelihood of so many of my American peers.
For every $1 we spend on manufacturing overseas, we generate at least x5-10 that amount of domestic revenue in the U.S. economy across multiple layers of a vast and complex supply chain that employ and put money in the hands of real American workers.
Independent toy/game/comic store owners, mass retailers, port & rail workers, warehousing, distribution teams, truckers, artists, designers, developers, playtesters, photographers, content creators, convention staff, etc.
Removing our primary source of manufacturing without a Congressional plan, without meaningful long term policy, and without domestic infrastructural investment/incentives leaves us handicapped on the world stage, eliminates consumer choices, skyrockets prices, and disincentives private investment in desirable domestic manufacturing options.
WE the American people are paying these U.S. tariffs on China. WE the American people lack representation against these taxes. Congress continues to sit back and do nothing, yielding their power to the executive office.
Our remaining hope is that the Supreme Court understands these facts come November, and sides with the lower courts (U.S. Court of International Trade & Appeals Court) which have already deemed them unlawful.
You imagine if a democrat did this?! Communism, socialism, raising taxes. They dont care about any of that. They want old white men in charge and the freedom to punch down on anyone not like them. Its abhorrent.

but let’s not call it a tax…
That’s about $4,000 for each American.
The poorer you are the harder it will be for you.
SCOTUS: Biden’s student loan forgiveness [would cost $400 billion](https://www.cbo.gov/system/files/2022-09/58494-Student-Loans.pdf), therefore under the Major Questions Doctrine it is a question for Congress.

When our news orgs start reporting on this it will be the beginning of the end of his effectiveness.
And it’s funding a tax break for billionaires, and putting MORE of the tax burden on PEOPLE LIKE YOU
As soon as the markets tank Taco will carve out his favorite donors and exempt them.
I’m shocked that people who voted for him still don’t understand what a tariff is and who pays it.
