The problem is we can’t just have one protest and expect it to make the difference we want. Today was powerful but we need more. We need to get out there and have protests constantly until we see action. The French do that…they surround government buildings even. Let’s emulate them (but without the rioting) because they seem to effectively protest things.

There was one guy today in a big MAGA truck with Trump flags flying that drove by our protest repeatedly. Each pass through, he was less and less aggressive as no one paid attention to him, and he was literally alone – no support in the crowd or among the traffic.

As someone who went to a no kings rally today, it was the FARTHEST it could possibly be from a violent, anti-American, terrorizing rally.
It was peaceful, it was fun, it was social. Honestly, it was hopeful

Correct. Cause it was neither the low turnout or violent mess they’d hoped for.

What I don’t understand is there appear to be a lot of people who are at these protests, and a lot of supporters who didn’t go, which begs the question, where was this during the election? Like imagine this kind of turnout to actually vote at polls? I’m mad about the state of this country but really mad at everyone who voted for it, and even more mad at those who didn’t vote at all. I wish these protests weren’t necessary.

Peacefully protested by the tens of thousands in each major city, which from what I’m hearing so far, had few to no arrests. Hell, the smaller city protest where I was at had people lined up 2 or 3 deep for at least a quarter mile on each side of the road and a guy on a Harley with a giant Fuck Trump flag, riding back and forth for 2 hours, which got big cheers every time.

Has anyone noticed that at this point in time, anyway, most American news sites are not carrying the point that millions protested in their headlines? They use phrases like „large crowds.“
I’ve only seen UK news sites refer to the millions in their headlines. Its important because it looks deliberate and an attempt to play down the volume of protestors. If millions show up all over the world for one thing, it is an obvious headline mentioned.

Well, most of the No Kings protests did very little to disrupt anything so they can be mostly ignored. It’s still a good thing, millions in the streets (well, parks and asigned protest areas), is still a threat.

I was at a rally in Vermont. Yes, the bluest state. But even in Vermont, Trump still got one-third of the vote.
I can remember two Trumpers driving by. One was an older man who looked like he was in a daze. He waved around a MAGA hat out of his truck window, I guess to taunt us. We all just waved at him. He was muttering something, not angrily, but all I could hear was „he ended 7 wars.“ I just laughed. I guess there is actually somebody other than Trump who thinks Trump ended 7 wars.

At the very least, real leadership would say, “ we understand not all Americans are happy, and we hope to find common ground.“ Total BS of course, but so much more defendable than demonizing a significant, if not majority, of the electorate. The days of real leadership are gone and going faster.

Does anyone not realize that virtually everyone was invited to attend these events to oppose a lawless dictatorship in the US? It wasn’t D vs R. It was democracy versus tyranny…..just as it was 249 years ago.
