Lemme guess cost of this tunnel will be $100 Billion, $10 Billion to Musk, $90 Billion to TACO.

    2. Watch Elon Musk puss out, just like he did with the other tunnel he never finished.

    3. The west coast of Alaska isn’t even accessible by road from the continental US. Who is this for?

Linking the US and Russia, meanwhile we’re supposed to be worried about Mexicans.

This proposed highway will probably feature endless toll plazas that line Trump’s pockets with royalty rights.

Bridges to Alaska have been discussed in so-and-so-did-the-math discussions before. The economics make no sense. There isn’t enough traffic to those remote regions, commerce wouldn’t want the extra several days of road/rail time going through the wilderness to actually deliver goods to populated areas only to get whacked by the seasonal times when one or both of the routes are closed or impassable due to snow/ice, and the value of that commerce traveling through that wouldn’t justify it. Plus, practical considerations like needing to ventilate the tunnel, have emergency response procedures for accidents/fires/etc, so on.

There’s also no way whatsoever it would only cost $8Bn. There’s the cost of the tunnel, cost mobilization to get out to those regions, cost to connect all kinds of other infrastructure on either end, costs for delays due to seasonal complications, and then ultimately the actual operating costs. The math blows up pretty quickly.

For context, the Channel Tunnel built between the UK and France in ’94 was about $14.5Bn adjusted for inflation with only half the distance and maybe 1/10th of the rural/seasonal complexity. Whatever advances in tunnel boring may exist, it’s likely a $50-75Bn endeavor just to build and connect to everything it would need to connect to, and the operating costs after that would still be extravagant.

    6. Don’t worry. Musk can barely make a short ass tunnel in the middle of a desert. Lmao

    7. Why? What is Russia going to gain from something like this? Oh wait, Putin owns Trump.

    8. Aside from the security danger of such a tunnel, that region is geologically unstable with many small and medium to large earthquakes.

      Somebody hasn’t thought this through.

Anyways, for those attending tomorrow’s prorests that’s gonna get off Reddit and do something about burning this dumb fuck bridge:

      1. Hydrate
      2. Look out for each other
      3. Look out for under cover 3%’s and other agitators
      4. Leave your phones at home
      5. Have a communication plan and pre established time and rendezvous points with your friends.
      6. At least one person in a group carry First aid kit, Electrolytes.
      7. May the force be with you

Two guys who don’t respect borders making a tunnel under borders…is just the authoritarian version of touching tips.

Ah yes because there’s a bustling stream of traffic crossing the straight.

    12. If you think this is a good idea, I’ve got a bridge in Alaska to sell you.

    13. He wants to cancel funding to an active tunnel project in NYC…and start a tunnel to Russia. The stable genius strikes again.

    14. Remember when we found evidence that Trump was compromised by Russia and then America ignored it and re-elected him?

      Yeah me too
