    1. Might be a stupid question, but is fur farming actually worse than meat farming?

I mean is „the real thing“ even better anymore? Like with wood, the real thing means you can sand it down and restain it and keep it for generations. With fur…. I mean it’s fashion, no one wants to be dressed like their grandma.

What is the fur being used for? Cause I dont know anyone still wearing fur, didnt seem to be a thing in Poland when I was there in winter either.

    4. There are more options for clothing to stay warm. Animal cruelty should be on the bottom of the list.

    5. Bit of context:

Back in 2020, [mink farms were a major source of early COVID-19 outbreaks in Poland](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10819236/#abstract1) and other northern European nations.

More recently, there have been cases of [minks contracting avian flu](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9853945/).

Commercial mink farms are very effective infectious disease incubators, and it’s relatively easy for viruses to spread from minks to humans.

Poland’s new ban on mink farms is about biosecurity/disease prevention as much as animal rights.
