Aber nachdem ich mir angeschaut habe, worauf TikTok eigentlich zugreifen möchte, habe ich angefangen zu überlegen: Warum sollte ich mir überhaupt die Mühe machen?
Nachdem ich es mir angesehen hatte, stellte ich fest, dass ByteDance, das Unternehmen hinter TikTok und CapCut, Zugriff auf Ihre Systemdateien, Netzwerkinformationen, Zwischenablage, Standort- und Gerätekennungen sowie Berechtigungen verlangt Weg über das hinaus, was zum Ansehen oder Bearbeiten von Videos erforderlich ist.
Es ist, als würde man die Haustür abschließen und gleichzeitig jedes Fenster weit offen lassen.
Haben wir die Massendatenerfassung einfach als Preis für Unterhaltung akzeptiert? Ist der Datenschutz zu einem Mythos geworden, von dem wir sagen, dass er immer noch existiert, während Unternehmen wie ByteDance im Stillen die detailliertesten digitalen Dossiers erstellen, die jemals erstellt wurden?
Ich frage mich unwillkürlich, wohin das alles geht … und wofür.

This is why tiktok is banned in my household. None of us have ever downloaded it and nor will we!
Pretty much any site that you log into you may as well not be using a VPN. If you log into any site that uses cloudflare then cloudflare can associate that login with all the rest of your internet traffic on the 20-30% of the internet that uses cloudflare. Same goes for the other major cdns and possibly aws gcp and other major cloud providers. The VPN only hides your IP. It doesn’t hide any of the rest of your browsers fingerprint like the exact version screen size or user behaviour. In theory https is supposed to keep that stuff private between the website and you, but when there’s a cdn like cloudflare in the mix they see it all in unencrypted plain text. If you ever log into anything with your real name that uses cloudflare they can see it and associate it with all the other sites that you accessed even if you use a VPN because the browser specifics.. the fingerprint will always be the same. Similarly all the tracking cookies from Google analytics and the ad networks work fine regardless of any VPN. Really the only point of a VPN is where the site needs you to lie about your location in order to serve you out of region content or now if they want to serve you porn but it’s illegal in your country without providing id. Basically it’s only useful to lie about your location in situations where the site probably knows damn well your on a VPN but needs a paper thing excuse so the gov doesn’t shut them down.
