Based on my absence of knowledge on Rovers, Mini-Rovers, space, the Moon, China, and rockets, I’d say that’s exactly what they did.

Do you have a more reliable source than The Sun? They are owned by Murdoch IIRC. It is a tabloid that engages in the circular reporting of no-name news. One time I tracked one of their stories about a Brazilian football player down to two papers, one in Indonesia, and one in Nigeria, which both published within hours of each other and had no link to their source. Daily Mail and Sun picked it up next day and started propagating it, again without a link to any source.

So I do not trust The Sun. Especially considering all those Murdoch news companies are constantly found liable of libel.

I really don’t get why China is so secretive about their space program. Every other country publishes exactly what they’ll be sending to other bodies in our solar system, but often times in the past we don’t even hear about a mission until its already touched down.

As both the US and China are vying for the first-ever permanent Moon base on the lunar south pole and this latest discovery of a secret mini-rover on China’s Chang’e-6 mission may make things worse in terms of international cooperation in space exploration, especially concerning transparency and trust among nations. Based on information from what some are already saying was classified cargo from China landing on the Moon in 2022 I can’t foresee this being forgotten by the US anytime soon and not reinvigorating the humanoid robots in space program
