Venezuela has long been a foe of the united states, activly courting russia and China to stabilize a clearly failing system. The us accuses Venezuelan president maduro of smuggling narcotics into the us and running a drug cartel and Venezuela has mobilized millions for an anticipated war. Trump has warned about the potential of ground strikes.
If this were really about drugs, they’d do it quietly. The fact that it’s public tells you it’s about reminding everyone who runs the “backyard”.
