Do Azerbaijanis call themselves Turk? Cool if they do but İ was under the impression that they mainly call themselves „Azerbaijani“.
İ know some of them do and some of them call themselves both depending on the situation.

Well, for the last thousand years Turkic people ruled over most of the modern day Iran, more than Persians did. It is more likely that modern Iranians are Persian speaking Turks.
By the way Persian nationalists have a very interesting algorithm. If you speak Persian, you are Persian. If you don’t speak Persian but your phenotype is closer to Iranic, then you are Persian but assimilated. If you don’t speak Persian but Persian is spoken in your rulers (like Seljuks, where Persian was used due to some viziers being Persian) than you are Persian. If your mother tongue is not Persian but you know it and you write some documents in Persian, you are Persian.
Imagine an English or American doing the last one, while most of the written literature for the last 100 years is in English. That is how ridiculous they are.

in fact, the Persians themselves are mainly native and not Iranic so you can say that they are assimilated natives like Elamites and other peoples who inhabited Iran. An Armenian once commented on a Gogoosh youtube video. He said „Iranians are such wonderful people, they’re Muslim too but not barbaric like Azerbaijanis.“ I wrote that he shouldn’t be racist, that Gogoosh is Iranian but ethnically Turkish. The Iranians responded with a barrage of insults, insulting me by writing that Azerbaijanis were ethnically Iranian. In Iranian movies, people seem very polite and humble, but on social media they are very abusive and chauvinistic.
Well not Azeris are maybe not Persian but they are Iranic though who were turkified, that’s facts.
Iranians are the most insufferable in the region honestly.
They also claim Caucasian identity in general like i have seen Mazandarani and Luris and some other groups talk about how they’re close to Caucasians, but to me Iran looks like any other Arab country, there’s nothing Caucasian about it.
