I won’t be holding my breath. Either this will mean the Canadian Government fronts the billions necessary to retool the plant, or their vision for Canada in the near future is more iterative manipulation of existing facilities; like that third shift the article mentioned. The latter wouldn’t be a recipe for a healthy long term outlook for Stellantis‘ operations in Canada, and the former would be a massive tax payer burden.

We really need to reconsider this relationship with the American automotive industry and begin looking at softening the risk it presents.
