    1. From reporter Igor Bobic:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) will try to block President Donald Trump’s bailout of Argentina and dare Republicans to defend U.S. financial aid to a foreign government while the U.S. government remains shut down, HuffPost has learned.

“For Trump, the leader of Argentina is more important than American families struggling with rising costs for health care,” the Democratic senator plans to say.

    2. In the 90s Clinton did something similar with Mexico.

He first tried getting Congress to pass a bill giving the authorization but when that didn’t work he used the same ‚Exchange Stabilization Fund‘ that Trump is using. It was also for $20 billion.

Congress afterwards passed a bill requiring regular updates on the position of the bailout. But, in the end the US made $500 million on the deal.

Argentina is a different situation though. While Mexican trade was deeply integrated with the US, Argentina could relatively easily abandon the US and pivot towards China if they couldn’t pay off the loan.

Farmers don’t deserve another bail out but she’s a good person.

Bailing out another country but not bailing out his own country lol what kind of president is that? This is pathetic.

Trump’s foreign policy always seems personal, not strategic. Helping Argentina while Americans went unpaid during a shutdown shows where his priorities lie…loyalty to deals, not people.

    6. I can’t wait for red state farmers to go absolutely ballistic over her trying to do this.

    7. Hey we all know Americans are suffering due to numerous bad and stupid acts carried out by the Trump Administration.

I know what we should do. Use $20 billion dollars to bail out a foreign country.

      Makes sense.

-Note: Trump promised to shut down payments to foreign countries and has actively attempted to do so.

How about no deal for Argentina, drop the tariffs on China, get soybeans back into play US farmers?

    9. Who will focus from this sham bailout, not the Argentinian public. It is Bassent’s buddies who own quite a bit of their debts and expect to be paid back first from this bailout

I Believe it is too late. 20,000 million dollars have already been transferred to Argentinian pesos. So, it is pesos for everyone in the USA.

And less than a handful of farmers who can’t sell their bushels of soy will read an article with her name on it unless it’s “so and so SLAMS woke Elizabeth Warren”.. no secret that if Argentina and Brazil can meet Chinas soy bean needs this year they won’t need to return to American farmers.

how come grassley thune and other farming state senators are not joining her ? farmers take note your own senators are fine with with trump/bessents scam

    13. Good for Warren hope she can stop it. It’s unbelievable that trump is helping Argentina and shut our government down.

    14. Imagine many of Americans having their access to basic affordable healthcare and services taken away in order to fund fascism to ensure it happens also in another country. And 1/4 of our country blatantly voted for this and are still cheering for it.
