And a functional opposition would be making that happen by proposing viable alternatives instead of just complaining.
I feel that he has delineated his priority: strengthening the relationship with the UK/EU and other partners.
He doesn’t need to amp the rhetoric against Trump all the time when it may be unhelpful.
Not saying communication has been perfect: he and his ministers need to stop continuously advertising a possible agreement with the US or a good relationship with Trump.
Kissing Trump’s ass might be a needed even if unsavoury part of his job and I’m grateful to him for that.
I don’t think Carney is prepared for the potential consequences of his „father knows best“ approach to governing. You can’t just keep people in the dark indefinitely.
Also the clear shift in „they’re going to break us so they can own us“ to throwing his head back cackling at Trump’s dumb jokes is unsurprising, but still disappointing.

This is a joke because we have been setting up diversified trade, provincial barriers are gone on the federal level.
Just because we’re trying to negotiate some sort of agreement with the USA doesn’t mean the rest isn’t happening.
Carney has clarified this in interviews. For some stuff the USA makes sense. For others no.
