    1. I’m admittedly conflicted about this, on the one hand teenagers especially in the UK are getting absolutely out of control beyond even the police like it’s a clockwork orange or something. There has to be some form of discipline or else there won’t be any laws to ban anything, It will just be anarchy. On the other trauma speaks to me saying that it has done nothing but breed total resentment and fear for those whom you’re supposed to love, respect, and eventually support. Instead you’ll gladly find a nursing home and eventually hospice care program to dump them at rather than bother keeping them around.

    2. I couldn’t smack my kids if I tried. I’d say it may have helped me as a kid know where the line is but I just couldn’t use physical force on my kids. Most of the discipline can be achieved in other ways. It’s just the fear factor is not the same, and I’m not sure I’d want it to be.

    3. Science has repeatedly proven that hitting your kids doesn’t do anything positive to them.

I’m American, and I’m sorry about that. The title of this post led me to believe that adults smacking other adults was currently legal in the UK, but you guys were working on putting a stop to it.
