It has become devastatingly clear that Marjorie Taylor Greene is the best and brightest of the republican party.

      Holy fuck.

    2. I realize that she has shown more backbone than all the Repugs put together, but the old saying, ‚you can’t change a zebra’s stripes‘ keeps coming to mind. Unless you have ze-donk or you paint it.

    3. Her policy positions are moving more to the left as she becomes more informed, funny how that works

    4. Thund3rbolt on

Is it possible she’s sensing a future downfall of the current maga regime when people see how bad this is about to get and wants to be part of whatever will come from the ashes of it.

So many thoughts here but whatever the trend is I hope it continues in this direction.

More than just MTG being the rare voice of reason, it’s the idea of the people who elected someone like her grateful to her for standing up for healthcare that makes me wonder if we entered into some kind of Star Trek Mirrorverse.

    6. Illustrious-Bridge45 on

What the heck, the voted in politician, actually taking into account the needs, and the desires of the people that voted for them? I am befuddled, kudos to her!

    7. GOP used to pretend they had something better to replace the ACA with. Truth is they never had anything to replace it with and only wanted it removed. They would be happy for most Americans to not have healthcare, die early and not burden the system. MTG is just somewhat seeing the truth to this.

    8. I think this is a potentially shrewd move from MTG and I didn’t expect that from her of all people.

Trump is old and not in great health. His grip on the party is as finite as his grip on life. It has been an iron grip ready to squeeze any dissent among republicans.

There was an article where Trump people likened congress to the Duma, just a rubber stamp for anything Trump wants and there is truth to that. The Big Beautiful Bill will fuck republicans over but they all voted for it.

Going against Trump has been republican political suicide for a while but Trump’s age and infirmity are showing. He’s forced a fight and shutdown and over something that will fuck over a lot of his voters should he win it.

There are two directions for a post Trump Republican Party: With him or against him. Most republicans are banking on the former. Vance parrots Trump’s mean girl insults without an iota of his peculiar charisma but it’s clear he’s trying to be the next Trump.

MTG might be going the other way. Trump has and will do things that even the authoritarian right would have balked at had Reagan or one of the Bushes done the same thing.

We all know the dems will get to investigating when they have power again, even if they have to go Cadaver Synod on his ass and try his corpse.

So much more will come out about Trump. Maybe even the Epstein files? Holding him up as a modern republican saint might not be a winning option in the future.

MTG protecting her constituents is a good look for her. Should the right sour on Trump posthumously, she can point to this moment to tell a different narrative. She wasn’t really pro trump at all, but only for him because he would help her constituents. She broke with him to protect them.

It also gives her a little moderate cred. She wanted to run for Senate but was smart enough to realize the perception around her is too hard right for a statewide win, at least an easy one. Break from trump, make it all about helping her constituents and maybe those chances improve.

      Hey MAGA MORONS!!

Added Bonus:  LOL. You get to payoff all the debt for the tax cuts for the billionaires.

Great job! You’re a special kind of stupid!!

    10. Why not call it affordable care act? Republicans don’t like “Obamacare” /s

    11. lustriousParsnip639 on

The pattern to MTG seems to be to oppose party line until she gets what she actually wants. So in that light, this backing of ACA subsidies will blow over and she’ll tow the party line as soon as she gets her under the table deal, whatever that may be

    12. PoliticalNerdMa on

She sees the writing on the wall. GOP voters will be furious when trumps who prevents the gop from backing down. She knows he won’t back down. She wants to get out infront of what literally could end trumps presidency by handing democrats a super majority in the midterms they were hemmerging support for before the shutdown

The woman who believes in weather wizards actually stands up for something. That’s hell, I don’t even care if she actually believes that it’s good or bad. I’m just f****** shocked it’s real

    14. manmythmustache on

I have the growing sense she’s only taking these moderate stances against the Republican grain because she’s aiming for a Georgia senate run and wants to have some sort of appeal to moderates in a purple state.

    15. KnotSoSalty on

Did she start taking her meds or something?

I’d be willing to toss her a couple million in Jewish space laser defense money if we all get to keep our healthcare.

    16. IceniQueen69 on

She made a pretty serious plea to expose the Epstein Files and a show of support for victims. I don’t know how to interpret that, but it should be exploited by Dems.

    17. Let’s just embrace this so it becomes more normalized for other republicans to speak out. We don’t know how pure her intentions are, but let’s not overthink it.

    18. jrblockquote on

„Sounds like she’s trying to look after the little guy,“ Grissom said. „As long as it’s Americans we’re talking about saving money for, and not giving our money away.“

Gee, I would bet anything that all of these ACA folks voted for their dear leader who doesn’t give a shit about any of them. They’re sure as happy to take advantage of a Democrat enacted benefit though. Never mind that their party was one vote away from taking it all away. So fucking infuriating.

I have a theory. I think MTG was absolutely deranged by menopause and has now gone on HRT. Estrogen is helping her come to sanity.

    20. tturedditor on

Given her history I don’t trust her for a second. But hey, there’s at least a slim chance she has grown a conscience and we can only hope for that.

She is speaking the truth while the rest of her party is completely off the rails, and when she speaks people pay attention.

    21. Adventurous_Test_296 on

Just another ploy by a moneyed, privileged GOP loyalist. To get rid of the MAGA influence once and for all start with voting against every last one one no matter the cost. These braindead nits will die off eventually.

    22. I think she feels guilty and betrayed for what she voted for in the BBB. I think she is anti establishment and the BBB ended up being establishment garbage that the heritage foundation and ALEC put together.

She thought MAGA would be beyond the influence of establishment politics… but i think she is realizing that its not.

    23. Live-Run-6745 on

She’s been acting like an over the top lunatic the last several years to gain the crazy people in office’s trust so they give her info. needed to expose them all. Now she’s gotten all she wants from them and is ready to reveal her true intentions and that is to dismantle the party and get them all locked up.

I know fan fiction but hey, I can dream

    24. Postsnobills on

My tinfoil hat theory is that she’s seen the writing on the wall within the party.

What the writing is, I have no idea, but she’s scared, and is now heel-turning to the ACTUAL needs of her constituents to try and keep her seat in the mid-terms. A shoe is going to drop, probably soon, which will fracture the Republicans.

My guess? If it’s not the Epstein files, it’s that Trump is going to die in office, and the GOP is not aligned with who will take up the mantle. In fact, I would go a step further and say that knives are already out and backstabbing is already happening that the public is unaware of.

She doesn’t want to be caught in the tidal wave of crossfire that is coming…

    25. Otherwise_Funny8620 on

Shes trying to soften her stance so as to be less toxic to voters. Its a trap

    26. MuchDevelopment7084 on

She’s seen the writing on the wall. She knows how badly maga’ts are going to loose the midterms. So she’s in full panic mode. Trying to salvage her seat in the upcoming elections.

    27. It’s not that complicated: she wants something and they’re not giving it to her

    28. Honestly, this is a soft article. CBS has been castrated.

This article broached on MTG’s relatively recent shift but completely ignored (a) what is her actual stance today, and (b) what is she proposing.

MAGA is a shell and CBS appears to be fostering it.

    29. Dry_Neighborhood_455 on

If we are being honest here, all that’s happening is that they decided now is the time that Republicans may actually lose support from their own side due to the economy and they’re using Marjorie as an „out“, so that these supporters can feel like they’re doing something all while still voting Republican.

      And we eat it up.
