That is praise for Russian subs. At least it gets to go home and not becomes a widow maker.

    2. So they polluted the sea too. From the article

“Russian VChK-OGPU Telegram channel, believed to have ties to Russian security services, reported that the crew discovered fuel flooding the submarine’s hold in late September.

The post claimed that with no qualified specialists on board to repair the damage, the crew was forced to surface and „drain the hold“ directly into the sea to avoid an explosion.“

      Actual quote from Rutte:

“What a change from the 1984 Tom Clancy novel ‘The Hunt for Red October.’
Today, it seems more like the hunt for the nearest mechanic.”

Russian navys are poster child of corruption. How many sailors perished at sea because their ships suffered major maintenance issues that cause the entire submarie to be lost at sea or if lucky to limp back into port alive?

US too had its own issue with losing sub at sea but they learned from it and no subs have been lost after Thresher disaster with implementation of SUBSAFE certification program.

The Russian navy. Where submarines have trouble submerging and warships frequently end up becoming accidental submarines.
