Tron: Ares is so bad that I wish I was never born.
Stingray88 on
It has an 87% audience score on rotten tomatoes. If it’s really as bad as everyone says, can someone explain that score? I know rotten tomatoes isn’t the best barometer, but it’s not usually TOTALLY off base.
i-like-turtles-4eva on
I didn’t think it was any worse than the previous 2 films. As an audio/visual showcase it was a solid time at the movies.
Murky_Hornet3470 on
It wasn’t as good as Legacy but it isn’t nearly as bad as everyone is saying.
It’s exactly like every other Tron movie was, a passible script and simplistic storyline with amazing visuals and soundtrack.

I thought it was a fun movie with some eye candy visuals. It was a popcorn movie with a basic plot. I don’t understand all the hate for it.
Even on Rotten Tomatoes it’s not doing too bad with audiences.

I thought it was decent , I enjoyed the eye candy and music. Had a good time but will never see it again. Just like the other two tron movies.

It wasn’t bad! It was enjoyable for what it was. I would’ve liked if most of the movie took place on the grid

I just can’t work up any interest in anything Leto is attached to.

Great movie to see in theaters; also great soundtrack

I really enjoyed it, though I am a hardcore TRON fan. Not as good as Legacy, but it’s just a fun time at the theaters.

I liked it a lot thought it was different and very on brand for Tron

I actually enjoyed it. Most people are salty because it’s Leto (and I hate Leto).

Everybody that has seen it says it’s awesome, everybody else says it sucks. Definitely some kind of weird negative campaign going on with this film.

The most lifeless, nondescript characters I may have ever seen in a blockbuster, poor Greta Lee had no character traits to work off of besides “she’s good at everything to the point she goes toe to toe in battle with AI super-soldiers”

Why would I need a movie to think that way?
Novel_Interaction859 on
Tron was never about the story it was more about the visuals. Right? I mean its basically one big ride on the big screen.
Personally im glad to see such things from the 80s still around.

Nothing would make me wish that creativity is taken from humans. Not even Jared Leto.

not even defending this movie, i haven’t seen it, but what the fuck is that headline??? no one bad movie doesn’t mean i want hollywood and human made art to vanish??

How does Jared Leto keep getting work?

They should have waited till the technology used was the very latest never before seen thing…like the original.
It was always a computer graphics showcase, like the last starfighter.

I say it on all these posts, but I don’t want to watch a movie with this guy in it. How does he keep getting these roles? Does he pay his way in? Like I heard he was a producer or something ?

It’s fine. It was a good movie if your expectations aren’t MCU

I think Reddit needs to look in the mirror and admit that Legacy really wasn’t all that great, it was also elevated by a great soundtrack and eye-popping visuals. I’ll see it this week and probably walk out the same way I walked out of Legacy – ultimately disappointed.

I enjoyed it. It was eye candy. Decent story with an option for a follow up. Life is too short to be a full time critic.

That bad huh… I’m not a big Tron guy but I feel like it has a cult following. Like I think there was one good movie and they’ve been living off it while other movies have flopped. Or idk. To me I just don’t get what’s going on in this movie or the lore to care too much.
And then you have Hollywood who is obsessed with this movie and keep trying to remake it when there’s a hundred other things that we want instead.
mikenanamoose on
Well, it’s got to be trained on something. Chances are, it would be trained on current movies, trends, and events which would probably make the same bad movies. Garbage in, garbage out.

It was so much fun! Incredible music and action.
AI wrote the negative reviews to prevent humans from watching this film. Can’t let the “impediments” get in the way of their mission of ruling the world.
saucisse on
The parts of it that were a movie with „story“ and „acting“ were quite terrible.
The parts of it that were an FX-driven Trent Reznor intustrial-techno music video were really good.
Take the 45 minutes (collectively) of „movie“ out of it entirely and leave the 1:15 or so of techno spectacle and that would be a good night out.
Online-Vagabond on
Tron to me just seemed to suffer from a lack of focus and/or an identity crisis. Blame it on the times between the movies, or that each film was made unbeknownst of the next installment, but all 3 movies followed the plot of “programs trying to grow to take over the world” however the focus of the movies boiled down to as follows:
• Revolution against a man-made horror
• Homesick man runs while Daft Punk plays
• ChatGPT learns emotions as corporate greed fucks people over
It’s maybe a bit more nuanced than this, but as people say, these movies were always more about the vibes and visuals

They sure didn’t try to hide the fact that they filmed this in vancouver. How many times can you drive back and forth over the Cambie bridge and the lions gate bridge.
The one scene that really didn’t make sense is s when they were on the north shore headed to downtown and suddenly were on the Alex fraser bridge, That bridge is no where near where they were. Only a vancouver person will get that.
