These Americans do not get it. Yes, a few Canadians will take the deals, mainly upwardly mobile ones with no sense of National pride, but the vast majority of people I know, that value standing up to a bully, are staying away and have no intention of going back until things change dramatically.
Voting matters, and they voted in a manaic. He is destroying lives daily.
There are no innocent bystanders. If they don’t like this, they should have voted better. People need to learn that there are repercussions to their actions.
These articles are always an interesting read. It seems like in basically each article that talks about this issue from the American perspective, it feels designed to garner sympathy. At the same time, it never truly captures the fear, anxiety, and anger Canadians felt and continue to feel.
Every border crossing issue circulates in our feeds. Every detention of a Canadian by ICE is discussed. Every time the US ambassador says something, we give him the side eye.
Not that anyone from CNN will read this comment, but if they were, I’d ask them this: What is the purpose of writing this piece? If your target is largely Americans, I don’t think you go far enough to convey how your Canadian neighbors feel.

Talk to almost any Canadian and I’m sure there is an American made drink that they miss, I know I have a few. Innocent bystander or not, you Americans are all in this together.

America has dropped the mask and revealed what it has become.

They are not “some guys” they are Americans and their country decided to harm ours economically. They live in a democracy so they get the government they deserve and pay the price for its actions. I don’t care who they voted for, as Americans they own this, they are not innocent bystanders.

The trust Trump and Americans as a whole broke will take a long time to repair after they fix what caused it. I don’t know if I will see it restored and I should have at least 40 more years on this planet.
