    Wofür werden die Verteidigungsgelder Zyperns ausgegeben?


    Der Staatshaushalt für das Jahr 2026 beläuft sich auf 13,7 Milliarden Euro, davon sind 176,8 Millionen Euro für Rüstungsausgaben vorgesehen.

      Remember when a large amount of the budget mysteriously got lost and disappeared 🤣🤣

      A pretty good modernisation effort considering the limitations of population.

      It would be good to see more focus on naval spending, as we’ve seen from the last few years there is a lack of sea based capabilities (either police or military), but obviously again, cost and personnel is a big issue.

      Again depending on budget and capabilities, I’d like to see more airforce equipment like helicopters that can be used for civilian activities like fire fighting (like the UK bases ones).

      Also I think Cyprus should be looking to participate more in EU or other international military engagements (like UN/EU peacekeeping, or anti-piracy operations) to build capability and skills.

      I read a story in the Cyprus mail that a scorned woman was able to breach an army base and that tells me all I need to know!
