The constant neglect of vocational education in the past decades is a slow burn catastrophe, the last nail in our economy’s coffin. Been saying it for years. Gonna bet half the politically active population is going to blame the kids too. Betray all promises, destroy all hope for their future, then say it’s all their fault.

While I agree cuts to this education has been extremly stupid and surely has some effect, things like the accident described in the news, is just simply idiotic teachers, who have learnt to slob at work. At amis there are great teachers and then there are those who disappear to their own stuff and collect paycheck. They have always been there. I had one 20 years ago, who would not appear or leave and say „ask another teacher if you have something“
Nowadays these teachers have found new way to avoid their responsibility and it’s „watch from YouTube“ instead of teaching.
This assholery and neglect has nothing to do with budgetcuts, just idiot people as teachers.

The changes back in 2018 made the vocational school more flexible, which is great for adults and those with previous work experience since they can now tailor the vocational studies more for their needs, but left kids who barely held it together through grade school stranded. Kids who need guidance and dedicated adults to help them become professionals and decent human beings are replaced by independent study and unable to consider how their choices will affect them in the long term. The kids (15-18-year olds!) who are able to self-cater their studies and learning like that mostly go to lukio anyway.
