Ich werde vom 13. bis 20. November in Skervoy sein, um Orcas und Nordlichter zu beobachten. Ein überwiegend statischer Aufenthalt und ich schwanke zwischen zwei Arten von warmen Schuhen: Stiefeln oder Halbschuhen (bei Bedarf habe ich Gamaschen). Keine Ahnung, wie hoch der Schnee sein könnte. Ich habe dicke Merinosocken und ggf. Wolleinlagen eingeplant. Ich warte darauf, die Schuhe auszuwählen, um Steigeisen zu kaufen. Make sure you buy shoes in a size that can comfortably fit thick merino socks and wool insoles. It is not uncommon to buy winter shoes a size or two larger than regular shoes. It is not the thick socks alone that keep your feet warm, it is also the warm air in your boots.
If your shoes are packed tight with socks and insoles, your feet will get surprisingly cold fast.
November in the year of our chaos lord 2025 where the planet is slowly burning us alive, I would choose the rightmost shoes claiming to be waterproof over ones that looks to be suede. Even if there would be very thick snow, pull your pants over the brim of the shoes.
Prepare for rain rather than snow
