One of the worst countries in Europe. I hope that Trump will make good on his promise to kick it out of NATO.

I’ll always be proud of being born in the same place jamon is made. I truly pity those who don’t eat it regularly .

As a curiosity: it’s not only the day of Spain, it commemorates the columbus arrival to America, since its one of the main events that defined what later was Spain, basically it’s the most important festivity for the country and it’s national day.
Also in other American countries used to be celebrated as day of „hispanidad“, to celebrate the Hispanic background the unites all of those countries around the world, lately since that event it’s been reinterpreted a lots of countries changed the name and the motiff of the day to day of the „mestizaje“ (word that means the mix of races) , the indigenous resistance, of decolonization, of the encounter of two worlds, etc.
Lately there are movements within Spain and all Hispanic America that wants give back the good connotations to this day, as a celebration of what unites all of this countries, and the differences that makes them unique without the old imperialist connotations but neither with the bad one of sorrow for a genocide, exaggerated by a lot of non hispanics.
At the end Spain wouldn’t be Spain without America, and Hispanic America wouldn’t be Hispanic without Spain and all are tied in some degree by blood and culture on both directions.
As a Spanish with one of my parents being Mexican thus indigenous American and European blood through my veins I like the last interpretation and that’s what I celebrate.

Did you know this holiday celebrates Spanish colonialism? So if you’re into it, you can also say,
„Yay colonialism!!
Yay bursting into other societies like a bull in a china shop and extracting their resources while abusing the people!!“
It’s not something to celebrate… It’s a memorial day for Columbus and all the atrocities he did, only fascist celebrate today.

Isn’t this the country which government did not congratulate the Nobel Peace Prize winner this year? And which Ex Vice President did compare her to Adolf Hitler?!
Who still believe Christopher Columbus was a Spaniard? And who do only pay 2% instead of 5% to the NATO?!
