“The Taliban government’s chief spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said Afghan forces have captured 25 Pakistani army posts, 58 soldiers have been killed, and 30 others wounded.”
If this is true, it really shows either how unequipped the Pakistan army was, and/or how much they underestimated the Afghans. If these numbers are any indicator of how many soldiers were stationed to each post, it’s no wonder they got absolutely spanked in one go.
Never thought I’d say I was a little impressed with the taliban but it’s 2025 and here we are.
Not saying they deserved it by any means, but if it’s true that they indiscriminately bombed Kabul, then this is a pretty fair response.
And of course let’s not forgot the Pakistani terrorists that murdered dozens of civilians in India recently and their government’s shitty response to it.
Pakistan supported the Taliban of all people during the Afghanistan war. You reap what you sow.
Pakistan is reaping what they sowed.
That seems like a lot
Pakistan is definitely going to respond harshly
Ouch. Pakistan shouldn’t have helped the Taliban.
Pakistanis on reddit are real quiet about this now
This is one of those ‚let them fight‘ situations.
Pakistan army is loosing their foothold with the general populace. They need a boogeyman to maintain control of the population. They tried it with India and found out how expensive it is. Hence, this time they found a soft target in Afghanistan. And voila, another conflict to rally the populace in support of the army
With Israel Gaza calming down another war immediately heats up?
This conflict has the potential to be deadly but I suspect it will de-escalate slightly better.
I’m curious if Saudi is going to be involved in this conflict and take pak’s side, as there was a recent agreement between pak and Saudi.
This is a good opportunity for China to test out their weapons. Could be good advertisement for their defence industry since there is currently very little foreign demand. Afghanistan already threw whatever resource agreements they had with China in the trash. Pakistan also has the appetite to fight.
That looks bad if 58 soilders are killed in an overnight operation. If things escalate in the same manner for Pakistan then it would have no choice and it would be compelled to ask the Americans for intervention again . Twice in the same year .
Or perhaps the Pakistan Army is playing America’s game altogether. US and Pakistan have a history of destabilising Afganistan. Pakistan has waged proxy war and cross border terrorism in Afghanistan for the US in return of US aid IMf loans and military aid and equipments .
In recent Trump signalled US wanting the Bagram Airbase back that is not possible without Pakistan’s support.
It feels like Deja Vu .
