    1. Let me tell you about a thing called Beanie Babies, it’s evil has no bounds and it didn’t even need tik tok!

Mental programmability and deployment channel test with measurable result in units sold.

    3. Pazuzu conspiracies aside, hyped collectibles are a herd mentality game, the same way their male counterparts are murdering eachother at Costco for Pokémon cards.

    4. ??? its really not that serious lol

      did you just discover advertising?
      – pokemon/pokemon cards/ sports cards
      – even stuff as mundane as clothes/shoes/hats etc
      – jewellry
      – marvel/dc comics etc
      – anime
      – teletubbies
      -furbies
      – lego

do i need to go on? its good advertising. its just like pokemon cards where ppl show off their rare ones or whatever.. only difference is the product. people like to collect things they enjoy or at worst- are told to enjoy

    5. They are so fucking ugly. I as a 29f have not understood and fail to understand why it’s still going on and not just a weird overnight fad.

I admittedly like fashion, accessories, beauty, etc, and literally do not fucking understand for the life of me.
      They’re ugly as fuck.

One of the vids about these was saying how they banned them in england due to the riots they caused in the stores and a lot of people report folks breaking into their cars to steal them

Wasn’t there a video of an Asian women jumping off the 3/4th floor of a mall because she didn’t one?

It’s just like any trend — it reached a level of popularity because of good marketing and PR and celebrity endorsements, now we are here. Same with the rhode lip tints, Adidas Sambas, Stanley flasks, Gucci purses, that Brazilian body mist spray that a bunch of girls use, panda Nikes, Ugg Tasmans, etc etc etc etc. Capitalism means some new product has to have the “it” factor and must be produced and sold.

A K-Pop singer started wearing it as an accessory, it went viral and now you have such a craze. Also there seems to be some sort of randomness in them or some boxes? Like it might have different eyes and such.

Simple minded people like what is trendy, it doesn’t matter what it looks like or what it sounds like, if it’s popular then they want it.

they’re ugly in a cute way- and all the popular girls online are wearing them.

      That’s pretty much it

    13. Probably near the peak of the boom cycle and now going to ride the slump cycle down for the next 1-2 years.

    14. Expensive accessories are made for them. Coach, Louis Vuitton. Ridiculous

just hyper-consumerism and social media hivemind in a different form for the millionth time.

    16. I like them because they remind me of the wild things from where the wild things are, but beg for one? No. Also the lafufus (fake ones) are cheaper and unless you collect them, indistinguishable from the ‚actual‘ ones in a lot of cases.

Because you ALWAYS NEED TO CONSUME THE LATEST PRODUCT MADE BY CORPORATE ™️

    18. Young, naive, idealist women with 0 responsibility over their lives, with a people pleaser and fragile ego and therefore no real self esteem buy this shit.

Applies to men buying this shit as well obviously

Then there’s the 0.1 % of people who actually find it pretty and buy it as it’s a nice toy for them.

Some people find joy in opening s blind box so they get that little high when they open the box and the little adrenaline rush gets them hooked. I think they are ugly af and scary. I also think they look cursed

I really think its because we are going through a recession and people are depressed and this 30$ item is better than paying for therapy or nicer items since its at the correct price of its not so cheap it „seems“ worthless and its not too expensive as buying a luxury item.

    20. Most women have the FOMO gene. If you have a product that gets them talking then you have cracked it. Once one person in the group buys it, they will all buy it.
