For anyone familiar with Acemoglu’s work, it’s not at all surprising that he would be very critical of the seizure of ENA by the government. Explaining how that kind of politicized economic decision making is corrosive to the overall economic environment is exactly what he won the Nobel Prize for.
He’s also been very critical of the Turkish government for the same reasons.
I respect him a Turk but his theories are not capable to explain the success of China
