Is there any precedent for doing this? I’m pretty sure that during all the previous shutdowns, Congress worked day and night to get shit resolved, not „well, we did ‚our part‘, we’re washing our hands of *our core Constitutional duty*“.

That sign in the picture is absolutely hilarious because Republicans don’t give two shits and a fuck about women, infants, or children.

    3. Yeah I bet they did. Johnson trying to get his party in line before the Epstein vote.

Someone’s afraid of losing control of a discharge petition methinks…

    5. So Congress refuses to operate its core functions or represent its constituents in favor of an internal squabble (which the people have already commented on anyways.)

An elected official is ready to be sworn in and participate in Congress, but cannot because it refuses to operate, specifically to restrict her from participating and representing her constituents.

When do we call it treason?

you’d think johnson getting bitched at by his own people on tv would help change things, but I guess not.

    7. In any parliamentary system, failure to do the most basic task of funding the government would lead to immediate elections.

Just a reminder that he won his district because no one else ran. If you want change, someone should run against him in midterms.

Aren’t these clowns still getting paid right now by our tax dollars? Zero reason they shouldn’t be working. These people are such scum.

    10. Surprise surprise.

The mid-terms cant come soon enough…. then again, we know that there will surely be some electoral tampering going on.

Arrest the GOPedos for fraud of the taxpayers!

These chucklefucks think they can take control of govt to shut it down?!?! We should be shutting down the US economy in response!

    12. Don’t forget that they getting paid and still getting insider info on stock market manipulation.

They’re petrified of the imminent epstein documents vote. That’s why Speaker Johnson refuses to seat Adelita Grijalva—the 218th vote needed in the House to force such a release.

And to the trolls who will inevitably comment on this post suggesting that he can’t seat Grijalva until the government shudown is over—he did so twice with Florida representatives in pro forma sessions in 2025.

Dems need to still show up everyday in some way to show that they’re there and doing what work they can do.

Speaker Mike „The Epstein Files Make us Look Bad“ Johnson continues to hold the US government ransom. The Senate passed a bipartisan rule to make sure that the military would continue to get paid throughout the shut down. Mike Johnson refuses to open the house to pass it through and guarantee our service members will get paid.

This is what happens when the Republican party is given any power. Republicans should not be allowed in any position of real power. Now the Republican party is in charge of all three branches of the federal government and they are shutting it down. They could open it whenever they wanted, but they refuse to. They just hate Americans.

What’s the saying… if 9 people are sitting at a table with a Nazi there are 10 Nazis sitting at the table?

At this point every republican in Congress is a pedophile.

    17. How does anyone believe the Democrats (who have 0 power in any branch of the government) are to blame.

I’ve told my family to hang on tight because I think this is going to last way longer than a month.

This is gotta be the most headass strategy used by the GOP yet. The optics of this are fucking terrible lmao

They need to meet 6 days a week 8 hours a day until a solution is reached.

    21. Republicans do not want to govern, they just want to rule. It’s a sick power fantasy that I unfortunately believe too many Republicans are enchanted by. No experience, no authority, just being in charge for the sake of insecurity.

Fuck everyone that keeps voting for stupid, hateful people.

    22. At this point, it’s Speaker Johnson & Congressional Republicans holding the country for ransom until they get what they want. There’s still work to be done & can do, they simply refuse to do it. I’ll be sure to remind folks of this, along with everything else, all the way up to November of next year.

There should be a law that after one week, they all must go through reelection.

    24. “It’s not our fault”

      *cancels voting*

“Guys this shutdown is not our fault, I swear!!”

    25. KidKilobyte on

Hard to blame the Democrats when you use the shutdown as an excuse not to do things you could be doing during the shutdown. They obviously want everything paralyzed. When things are back up, they’ll be to busy with the collateral damage than do stuff like releasing or having a vote on the Epstein files.
