The pragmatic Labour leader’s cautious diplomacy mirrors his earlier reticence toward China’s rights abuses, reflecting a broader post-Trump realignment where trade trumps values. 

Despite India’s history of tough negotiations and democratic backsliding, New Delhi rewarded Starmer with an extravagant welcome and promises of new investment, underscoring a mutual willingness to overlook uncomfortable politics in pursuit of economic gain.
