Interesting development. I wonder how coordinated these plans are between the Baltic countries

Considering Russia’s track record regarding bombing cities and hurting civilians, this is a very good idea

No evacuation will be needed if Europe comes and helps us fight back – that would only be the case if all our allies betray us. So far they are still doing too little. Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania must invest their own funds to build a defence line on Europe’s eastern border – none of our Western partners are funding it.
I hope our Western allies understand that we are not merely a buffer zone: if we fail, you will fail as well. Your economy will suffer, and you will have to deal with the resulting refugee crisis.

I understand that we need to evacuate kids with teachers.
But i don’t think that politicians should be evacuated. They should fight for the country.

Riga would be renamed Putingrad or something

I’m in Tallinn.
My concern is that once the Suwalki gap is either closed or subject to constant bombarding, the only evac route out of the Baltics will be by ship.
Russians already bombed civilians ships trying to flee in Ukraine , they’ll do it again.

As somone living in the Baltics for ten years now I don’t see or feel any threat we cant deal with just fine.
Russia has not made any threats against us and persistently says it has no need or will for any conflict with the baltics.
not only that but war with Baltics is war with all of nato and such a scenario is not happening and even if it did it doesn’t matter as it means nuclear war and im probably better not living through that anyway

Understandable, but crossing into NATO territory would be a massive tripwire, so it won’t happen. But understandable to draw up a contingency plan nontheless.

According to the narrative „They can’t even deal with Ukraine,“ popular among Redditors, you have nothing to worry about. Sleep well.

Evacuation means moving to a different city or a different part of the city though. If an attack happens Baltics have nowhere to run with Russia to the East and Sea to the West+Kaliningrad.
That said we also have plans in my family of what we are doing in case of war, who goes were and so on.
In the defense doctrine of the country it calls for total defense, meaning everyone fights anyway. This is specifically made after the atrocities of the annexation, deportations and especially when Ulmanis accepted the ultimatum hoping for less bloodshed.

If anyone’s interested, it’s only fiction I know but there’s a [series on YouTube](https://youtu.be/z5EiVP-rT14?list=PLkq77zgeVLZMJzGFOZeafke31i-ijHBAY) taken from a factual perspective of what could happen and points out where are the key weaknesses.
