Reminds me of an old review my dad referenced when I was growing up.. To paraphrase: “I found it both clever and original. Unfortunately, the parts that were clever weren’t original and the parts that were original weren’t clever.”

Had they brought in relevant people would it have worked?
Otherwise, I don’t know if an hour of dad jokes would do it for anyone.

The YouTube channel Some More News did a whole thing on why conservative comedy isn’t very funny anymore. Well worth the watch.
„Chris Himes, who produced the Talk Show, said the show was not intended to be a “rightwing late-night show”. The aim, Himes said, was “to create a broad, throwback late-night program for the entire country – not just one side”.
“These are not partisan or ‘right-wing’ shows. Think Letterman or Dick Cavett in tone: humor first, with no space for snark or ‘clapter’,” he said in an email.“

Comedy requires empathy to be successful. Conservatives have never been empathic to anyone at any time. That’s why it bombed.

They even tried way back to do a right wing equivalent of the daily show. It failed. Greg gutfeld has been the only one with a successful equivalent of a late night comedy show. Still sucks though

But I thought MAGA was the “silent majority”… I can’t possibly fathom why this failed with so many potential viewers?
