    1. So to give some context on what happened here: last week Somalia became the 52nd country to sign the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child which gives freedom of religion to children and set the age of consent at 18.

But after significant blowback from the population lawmakers clarified that the constition and Islamic teaching supersede the charter.

      >Following parliamentary ratification, the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development issued a statement articulating Somalia’s position on the charter. The ministry reaffirmed the country’s commitment to child rights but emphasized that Somalia’s national constitution and Islamic teachings remain the supreme legal authorities guiding interpretation and implementation.

      >The statement explicitly noted that some provisions of the African Children’s Charter contradict Somali religious and cultural values and therefore would not be implemented if they conflict with Islamic law. Somalia rejects key provisions such as the freedom of religion under Article 9, stating, „Somali children are Muslims and the constitution will not recognize the right to change religion,“ highlighting the supremacy of Islamic identity within the country’s legal framework.

      It had to be them..

People will excuse all sorts of wrong shit in the name of their made up religion. Disgusting pedos

    3. And this is why the western world does not like northern African and Middle East Muslim immigration. Their own government says this is Islamic law and cultural values

“We signed the Declaration of Independence, but any part that conflicts with rule by the crown will not be implemented.”

There should be a basic set of international laws about human rights. Like an international system for basic food distribution of something like Soylent/huel etc so people can hit their macros but also something banning child marriage. It’s dangerous af for someone under 18 to give birth.

Skip all the substance policies and other bs cause that’s all gonna change

What would be the age for marrying (more or less)? I remind that e.g. in France, Italy, Scotland it is usually 18 but sometimes 16.

Of course, the only serious islamic country in east africa, is in absolute ruin, stateless!

What has the religion done for these guys other than literally fuck their society up?

      Inbred fucks.

    10. No one has a religious right to violate a child.

      A child cannot consent.

An adult can believe as they see fit, but cannot act on those who cannot consent.

More countries should recognize Somaliland. It’s the only part of the country that even remotely has its shit together, and they really don’t want anything to do with the rest of the country.

    12. I think the government should be more concerned with improving the quality of education and training for the benefit of its young population and its economy.

There’s a pair of little Somali sisters at my kid’s school, probably around 4 and 6 years old. They both wear hijabs every day.

I always thought girls didn’t have to cover their hair before puberty. Who thinks of 4 year old girls as sexually desirable and in need of covering from temptation?

None of the other Muslim nationalities I know people from require their daughters that young to cover their hair.

That seems slightly wrong, but if it’s their culture then we can’t judge them I suppose.
