Jesus the NDP and CPC better save some of these for when a election is actually with in reach lol , just recycling outrage at this point.
I do not think anybody was under the illusion that Carney was a populist or otherwise a grassroots man of the people lol. We voted for a centrist central banker because we wanted a centrist central banker
For years I felt the Hill Times was a pretty impartial publication but they have been working hard for the past few years to tar the Liberals quite a bit.
If every Canadian Billionaire donated to Carney, he’d have 175,000 dollars. That would represent 3.5% of this „war chest.“
Meanwhile, the Conservative party controls the major media outlets, which have been used and failed to change Canadians to side with genocide. If billions of dollars of media couldn’t leverage Canadians to change their mind, I’m not sure what people expect Carney to feel threatened by an negligible amount of donations from billionaires.
Yeah, we know. I held my socialist nose and voted for him despite knowing what I was getting. I live in a solid red riding, so it didn’t really matter anyway.

$5m over 25,000 donations is $200 average. There’s a $1,625 maximum cap per donor, except the candidate themselves may donate $25,000 to their own campaign.

As a data nerd this was really cool to read. I feel like it means something really good when a bunch of your literal neighbours and massive humanitarian and environment philanthropists donate a shit ton of money to your campaign for leadership. A significant number of donations came from people he’s worked with, people he’s played hockey with, and people he knows personally… I have a hard time believing that the $9.4-million Pierre Poilievre raised for his Leadership campaign in 2022 could say the same.
It’s interesting to see the total number of donations to each party over time (right at the end of the article but at least they included it).
