      My latest with Khaleda Rahman:

Alaska’s City of Fairbanks Mayor David Pruhs, a Republican, conceded to Mindy O’Neall, a Democrat, in the mayoral election on Tuesday night.

Release the Epstein Files, unredacted. We know that the man seen in photos with Maxwell and Epstein will be in there.

Trump: we’re sending the National Guard to Fairbanks Alaska, a Radical Democrat city that’s on fire.

    4. Are they shocked that the election wasn’t fixed by the party in power? Because it’s no shock that the party destroying the future of the country should loose power.

A Republican gracefully admitting defeat. No whining, no claims for fraud, just “The voters have spoken…I wish Mindy the best.”

      I’ll be damned.

Alaskans may be conservative but they’re a bit too independent to be willing to submit to fascist authoritarians quite yet.

There are 31,732 people in Fairbanks with a median age of 28. The total number of votes was 3,336. 10.5% of the population voted when 84% of the population is above 10 years old.

    8. Really, at this point, the dems don’t have to do much as Trump and his buddies are pissing everyone off. But I still wish the dems would bit more, they have teeth if they want to use them

    9. Hoping we can keep up this trend. More importantly to do so before it’s too late to stop the current regime from totally destroying our democracy.

Is this because they used some type of ranked voting system and the more popular candidate actually wins elections there?

    11. This reminds me of every election/special election leading up to 2024.

From 2022 to 2024, Democrats were winning everything from congressional seats to dog catcher, yet, somehow, it all culminated with them losing the most important election of all.

Pictures from Aleppo Syria sold as Fairbanks, Alaska incoming and those morons will believe them

    13. Shouldn’t be a shock. People understand the GOP protects billionaires and pedophiles

The writing is on the wall for the mid-term elections. The majority party should have already started lining up their post-Congressional consulting gigs. The clock on this administration is running low.

How is the shocking, every red place should turn blue and deep blue with that

    16. Mark my words with shifting demographics, republican apathy and democrat mobilization, gerrymandering wont work anymore. So they are going to have to cancel elections to prevent losing.

      > According to unofficial election night results made available by the city of Fairbanks, O’Neall received 1,808 votes (54 percent) and Pruhs received 1,528 votes (45.7 percent).

      3,336 total votes.

Fairbanks has a population of roughly 32,000 people

      That’s a voter participation level of 10%.

    18. Betelgeusetimes3 on

Only 3300 people voted? That’s like a 10% turnout. What the fuck? Am I missing something?

If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. The will reject democracy.

    20. >shock election defeat

Is it really such a shock that Republicans are losing when the party is leading a war on the American people, the economy is crashing, and dear leader is a known pedophile?

    21. ooo-ooo-oooyea on

Alaska is such a great state for some Democrat pickups. It doesn’t take a ton of votes to swing an election there, and there are some patterns suggesting it could become competitive.

    22. Traditional-Note6765 on

Shocking! The one party who has a modicum of respect for actual American values like free speech, due process, checks and balances, etc are winning over the self admitted dictator party… Wow

    23. I’m not giving Newsweek a click. Is this a federal position like senator or congressperson or something like State senator?

    24. oopsallhuckleberries on

Only 10% of the city pop voted… I know it was just a local election, but yikes that seems low

    25. Don’t worry comrades, the glorious leadership of the republicans will delay her confirmation until the epstien list, which doesn’t exist is safe.

    26. Lonely_skeptic on

A lot of Republicans in all offices are going to be replaced. The party has become synonymous with hatred and their irrational support of anything trump wants.

    27. FatWithMuscles on

People are generally good the problem is that the bad apples are the louder ones and the good rather keep to themselves so it seems worse than it is but the majority has a good heart
