Used to deal with alot of couriers in a previous jobs. Alot were self employed who said they have to just accept stuff like this, because if they refuse then someone else will take the work
Many used to overload their vans to the point it was illegal how much they carried. But they said if they told their bosses, the bosses would just get someone else willing to do it and they lose out on earnings

Will just lead to them ending up with an Evri tier reputation. Getting harder and harder to find decent couriers, I’d rather pay the extra money not to have my shit just left out in the rain on my doorstep because the delivery driver is trying to get through so many deliveries in such a short period of time.
Thecquality of couriersxhas dropped to about 20-25% since 2008ish. I remember having no problems with them then, nowadays even couriers like dpd have lost packages, or packet thrownbover the fence.
There are ones who steal your packages who i refuse to buy online or ebay from businesses who ship with them.
Shareholder pressure you see, the companies profits have been a bit wobbly so the drivers have to take the brunt of it with £6k pay cuts. I have a friend who works for DPD, he said the changes will bring them well below min wage with no holiday pay, no pension or protections. It is sick that companies are allowed to treat people like that. In times past, working for just one company as self employed would be put into question whether you really are self employed. Now it just seems common place to recruit self employed workers to get around employer responsibilities and cut costs.
We have a lady that delivers around the local area, we saw her at least 4 days a week in the street. Yesterday she told us that she makes £1 per delivery and that was about to be reduced to 50p. She asked my wife what she does for work and how she could do the same. I’m wondering when this all is going to come to a head and they can’t squeeze anything left out of employees and customers. Red line must go up!
