„The problem of Europe, the problem of Ukraine, the problem of Lithuania and Poland is not that Nord Stream 2 was blown up, but that it was built,“ Tusk told a news conference.

„It is certainly not in the interest of Poland… to hand over this citizen to a foreign country,“ he added.

    2. Yapping bs, they will give him up anyway unfortunately. He should not have been captured at all, now it’s hard to solve this without conflict with Germany.

    3. KomischesFischauge on

      Screw Tusk.

The perpetrator carried out a terrorist attack on our infrastructure and our independence. He must be handed over.
Or Germany must follow up with consequences, in whatever form

    4. People should be relieved that the german government and certain parts of the press engage this issue in this factual and phlegmatic manner. Other shit-stirring parts of the world would have already jumped to the conclusion they want it to be and would use it to make some highly self centered decisions.

    5. Nord Stream is half-owned by the Russian state, which is at war with Ukraine. Ukraine has every right to blow it up. Germans made infrastructure with a known enemy, and got burned. A lesson for the future.

Given that for some reason he didn’t go back to Ukraine after blowing Nord Stream, means he’s either innocent or Ukraine’s SBU doesn’t care enough to evacuate him somewhere safe.

Both of these mean Polish government shouldn’t be pointlessly standing up against lawful request of both EU and NATO ally. Keeping him in Poland would be meaningless posturing and go in line with Russian propaganda in the west which tries to portray Baltics and Poland as mindless warmongers rest of NATO should distance themselves from.

If Germans want to investigate and punish that guy for doing something objectively good for their own security go ahead, but keep Poland out of it.

(And yes pipline was idiotic and it’s great news it got blown up.)

Not in our interest to fulfill NATO obligations to countries who aid those attacking us.

Germany must understand that there is close to no sympathy for Germany for someone having blown up NS2. We get that it was illegal, we just don’t care. You yourself pushed someone to do this. We all told you NS2 was a strategic mistake…

Dude deserves a statue not extradition. Why was he back in Poland in the 1st place, they let him go once before.

    10. I am in favor of handing him over.
Not out of a sense of justice because I’m fully behind Nordstream being blown up but I want to know the full story and watch a movie about it.

Anyone who thinks the destruction of nord stream was justified should wonder how poland would react if the druzhba pipeline was bombed by germany.

    12. So Poland protects [eco terrorism](https://www.unep.org/news-and-stories/story/pipeline-blasts-released-record-shattering-amount-methane-unep-study#:~:text=The%20rupture%20of%20Europe%E2%80%99s%20Nord%20Stream%20gas%20pipelines,coordinated%20by%20the%20United%20Nations%20Environment%20Programme%20%28UNEP%29) against an already **closed pipeline** after Germany had already decided to end russian gas imports (unlike some other EU countries).

      Interesting.

      >The rupture of Europe’s Nord Stream gas pipelines more than two years ago resulted in **the planet’s largest human-caused release of methane**, a powerful greenhouse gas, finds a [new study](https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-024-08396-8) coordinated by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Ah, the definition of rule of law is now that it only applies if it is in someones interest. Really smart move … Its so obvious he uses the sacrifice the relations between Poland and Germany for a simple and populistic headline. Blowing up a pipelane or any other kind of infrastructure is a crime, it is simple as that. If Tusk doesnt believe in international agreements and cooperation go fo it, but please dont ask for help if Putin is visiting Poland with some drones again. It is not in the interest of Germany to defend Poland with german soldiers 🙂 Good luck guys!

People in comments seem to be missing this:
„Donald Tusk said that ultimately it was for the court to decide whether Volodymyr Z., who was detained near Warsaw in late September, is handed over.“

    15. Ice_Tower6811 on

That pipeline was (in hindsight) a mistake. Blowing it up was not the solution to the problem. Instead of blaming each other can we just accept the facts and move forward? Whoever blew it up wasn’t doing it for our best interests and should be prosecuted for it.

At this point its quite clear that the Poles are involved.

      They lied about the Andromeda.

      They helped one escape.

The other lived there and now they don’t want to extradite.

They literally piss in our faces and the German goverment doesn’t do anything. All of them traitors and the house needs to be cleaned. Poland is not an ally.

    17. NightBossman on

For most of Central and Eastern Europe, the construction of Nord Stream 2 was not only illogical, but above all politically toxic. Yet, of course, every time discussions on this topic started, the same German counter-comments would appear, saying – ‚Poles have a problem again… probably because they’ll lose money on transit or something.‘ Judging by the comments under this post, Germans still understand very little. Ostpolitik was and still is the pinnacle of German naivety.

    18. As someone wise said, the main purpose of Nord Stream II wasn’t to export russian gas, but to export russian corruption.

    19. Important_Still5639 on

Funny how most people here shit on germany. We should honestly just leave the EU, im fed up with all the bitching and how Germany is always in the wrong but when its time to pay some stupid subsidies they always take the money. Enjoy the EU without the biggest contributor and see how far you will come

    20. „Volodomyr Z.“ Can’t make that stuff up.

If somebody had said, „I had a vision: It’s not the Russians! Nordstream 2 was blown up by a Ukrainian man called Volodomyr Z…,“ that dude would’ve been labeled a Russian troll/bot/agent.

    21. DrPinguin98 on

That is an absolute scandal! Poland would surely also like Germany to extradite criminals for court.
