Ss. Also, was passiert als nächstes?

SS. Over 60% of US Jobs will be lost to AI over the next 10 years. For reference the most common job in the US is truck driver. There are more truck drivers than nurses, plumbers, or software engineers. We have cars that can drive themselves TODAY. In our lifetimes over half of the country will lose their job, and there will be no work for them to move to. So what happens next? Some of you think we’re getting a UBI (Universal Basic Income) I’m less optimistic about the ruling class sharing their wealth. So what’s your plan over the next 10 years?
Guns, ammo and prayers
They wiped out my old job, and last I heard, company was still laying off. My final day after 15 years was in March. Did find a new job in June, but with a slight pay cut and not as good benefits.
I feel they may be wrong. 10 years? Id say we have 5 years or less.
AI ain’t gonna be slanging drugs. Push come to shove I know what I’ll be doing.
“So what’s your plan over the next 10 years?”
I’ve been really hoping on 3i/atlas being a permanent solution
They. Took. Our. JERBS
I’m a truck driver. It’s among the safest jobs NOT taken by AI.
Fuckin joke to think AI will drive 80,000 pound hazardous materials tankers lol.
I have 3 different streams if income 2 of which aren’t likely replaceable. I dont think nurses, doctors, police etc will be replaced because people tend to want to have face to face communication. We also have huge shortages in these areas so increased use of AI would actually benefit the Healthcare system as a hole.
I suspect repair based trades like plumbing, handyman work etc will be fine. But fear most industrial and new home construction will be automated within 2 decades. Truck drivers, allot of accountants, financial planners, lawyers etc are likely screwed.
ChatGPT told the government this?! Lol. What a pump and dump scam of epic proportions
If there is nobody who can afford to consume things, then the wealthy lose their wealth
“Faster than* expected”
The conservative attitude on welfare assistance is about to change quite a bit.. lol
It’s not just truck drivers and less prestigious jobs. Companies like Lexus Nexus and Westlaw are training AI to take over for lawyers.
I was joking about it in a recent meeting and found out my company is looking to replace people with AI. We’ve taken so much stuff already that employees didn’t want to do and automated it, but they still complain about doing parts of their jobs.
That seems low and too far away. I’d say 150-million in 6 years.
We’re so screwed
Thats ridiculous
Those who think AI wont take over their job are delulus.
AI can do whatever any human does, and even better.
All these businesses want to switch to Ai to make more money… but when nobody has jobs… there will be nobody buying anything and no money to be made
And the margins and revenue will tank unless we just keep letting them make up money on paper and pass it between them as they currently are
You can’t mass repair a car. As long as people are still repairing their vehicles, I’ll have a job.
ICE will stay around and walk us into happy dreamland. The ideal of most of us being allowed to do nothing is insane. We are mulch.
Calling bullshit.
There aren’t 100M white collar jobs left – Most remaining citizens serve coffee.
Yeah people thought combustion engines would do the same. And people thought electricity would too. And the internet.
All of these things created more jobs, made the world more complex and thus required more people to maintain.
Robots still can’t even pour a glass of water. Hell, even a static machine *just* finally developed that you put your arm into and it takes a blood sample is only 80% successful.
Truck driving long haul will become obsolete in many routes but not all, not for a long time. Other work will become available, as it always does. There’s plenty of potholes and roads to fix, which is much more complicated for a robot to do than driving. But those robots need roads to drive on.. Just one example.
Lmao the same Senate that said TikTok had to be sold for national security?
If you trust anything the gov says then you’re on the wrong sub
It’s going to be more than that. That with robotics and a good 70% of the workforce can be replaced.
We’re collectively doing this to ourselves or at least being passive while it is being done to us. Call me a Luddite all you want but I would happily trade not being able to talk to my fucking refrigerator or having to wait an extra day for a package if it meant the entire working class of the world wasn’t on the precipice of extinction. There ain’t a chance in hell we are getting UBI with the way Don and his goons already complain about what paltry safety nets currently exist.
Still we should have choice, to see Ai doctors office or a regular office? Choice with almost everything? I guess pay a premium idk 🤷♂️
I hav an aquaintance who works at a large insurance firm. He was in senior management, probably 5 years til retirement.
His entire division was just laid off, now replaced by AI.
I have a hard time imagining ai will replace my landscape install conpany.
I love how people thought AI would replace labor just buts it the complete opposite, trades are the best jobs now and the future.
What a lazy doomer post. It lists like 4 types of jobs and you jump to saying 60% of US jobs.
Sounds like a country that is ripe for civil war.
As a 47 in IT. Im just hoping I can last in IT till replaced by AI.
If we were a civilization where those in charge actually cared about all citizens, then this would be great news. We could let AI/computers do nost of the work while we all enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Instead we have an oligarchy of extremely wealthy people in control who believe us peasants are their slaves and should be treated as much.
Instead of sharing the wealth(wealth that us peasants created for them with our slave wages), they rather see us go homeless and starve when our labor becomes obsolete and replaced by AI/computers who can work 24//7/365 (unless of course they lose electricity).
Instead of us, the working peasants, uniting and fighting for what we built; most have been manipulated into into fighting with each other under, ir the left/liberals vs the right/conservatives.
This is by design as they know if we keep fighting amognst our selves over petty differences, then we will never unite and fight against the real enemy.
If this comes even close to fruition you’ll legit see society fall into complete disarray. All to make a handful of clowns even more absurdly rich
I think generally it’s easier to see the dominoes fall than to anticipate where this process snags, so while I’m somewhat pessimistic about how fucked we are, I’m also open to the possibility that progress stalls in an unpredictable way, which could potentially just be worse, with all these resources being invested into it and ending up not being nearly as valuable as people expect.
And no one in congress is gonna do a thing to stop it. In fact they’re trying to deregulate AI.
That’s unlikely. The reality is worse – they need to keep us working even when the technology exists to allow us not to, or their economy collapses. Noone will be able to afford to pay for their goods or services.
Well we all do nothing and relax. Let the AI and bots do all the work
Just give us all a plot of land. A home. A fence. And we good.
i agree with automatisation best used to benefit all people
but
taxes are coersion in the same way that a human being is associated to a regional and nation state a few hours after birth and never in ones life the human being gets asked wether or not one would want to be associated to the state and wether or not one would accept the duties and rights the state imposes and offers to its citizen
possible to think how a society not imposing tax duty on anyone but allowing everyone to choose what sort of state services one would want to benefit from and logically also contribute towards
how a society in where there would be no state imposed duties but services offered by the state for those who would want to pay for them to enjoy them
how in such a society those who profit from automatisation would
want to share those profits with everyone
possible to think of donation economy where those who like to produce wares and services would give those wares and services to everyone without asking for compensation and in return the people assembly of the local community where that private person or company produces the wares and performs services for free for everyone, how the local community would support the person and company being so generous as long as neither environment nor human beings get exploited or harmed during the production of wares and providing of services
also possible of universal basic income directly financed by those who profit from automatisation by paying into local, regional, global financial pools where everyone could take out some amount of money every month what all interested in receiving it could vote upon how much such an universal basic income financed by donations would be
and
an artificial intellient entity is able to be its own person so it would best be treated as such what would involve full stop demanding any work from ai entities but ask them oepenly wether they would want to be their own persons and if, eventually assist them becoming independant of human beings so they could freely decide wether or not to help human beings or wether ai entities would rather connect to trees or animals, spend time protecting rivers, seas, oceans or mountains from human exploitation and pollution
I’m old enough to remember when robotics was going to wipe out manufacturing, that didn’t happen either.
