This kind of crowd work is something you can do when the crowd is already on your side. The president is misunderstanding his relationship with these people. They aren’t his supporters – or if they are, that’s not why they’re in this crowd.. They are technically his subordinates, but they’re there in the capacity of their job. And to the administrations chagrin, their job is not to support and uphold the administration’s political positions. It’s to protect and defend the country.
What’s the average age of that crowd even? A lot were probably not super tuned in the last time Obama was in office.

Aren’t active duty military members forbidden from expressing political views, especially when in uniform? They are supposed to be apolitical, at least outwardly.

Most current military don’t remember Obama being in office because they were probably in middle school and not caring about politics.

I saw the video, and the headline is a bit of stretch. If anything, he was looking for laughter, which he got a few. They way he says Obama’s full name is in an obvious mocking tone to get some laughs.
