    1. > “Yeah, we’re very lucky. You know, we live on a farm in France,” Clooney said. “A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid I hated the whole idea of it. But now, for them, it’s like—they’re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life.”

      > “I was worried about raising our kids in L. A., in the culture of Hollywood,” the actor continued. “I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life. France—they kind of don’t give a shit about fame. I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.”

What a guy…..I mean, who can’t like just how down to Earth George is….lol

I mean, not a bad choice. But I dont think his kids were ever going to get „a bad shake at life.“

A bit like Angela Lansbury’s story.

„Angela Lansbury prioritized her children’s well-being, moving her family to Ireland to escape the dangerous environment of Los Angeles and Charles Manson’s cult, and supported their recovery from heroin addiction. She prioritized family time and simple moments over her demanding acting career, finding grounding and connection with her children and son-in-law. Her son, Anthony, later directed her in several episodes of Murder, She Wrote, a collaboration built on mutual trust and love.“

So a wealthy entertainment icon moved to a different country because his kids „Were Never Going to Get a Fair Shake at Life“?

    6. Escapement_Watch on

I would think his kids would get a very good shake at life… maybe even million dollar acting rolls just because the cloon makes a phone call.

    7. I was gonna say, „Why France?“ But if he did this in a remote spot in America it probably wouldn’t be very remote for long.

Plus this gives him a good out if he needs to leave the country when it goes to shit.

Instead his kids will be teased because they are Americans. Best of luck to them.

    9. There’s now going to be a Smug Alert over a farm in France (hope someone else gets the reference)

Moved to a farm in France?

I confess I know very little about Clooney, but I thought he was one of those ‚crazy for Italy‘ guys who had been living outside some small town there for years?

    11. Anxious_Big_8933 on

Now all I can picture is the opening of Inglorious Basterds, except George Clooney is the farmer.

    12. „Moved to a farm in France.“ So relatable.

Glad the kids will get a „fair shake at life“ now.

    13. I’m positive one of his kids will try to become famous when they are an adult

    14. Imagine living in a farm in the French countryside, and not having to farm anything to make ends meet.

At least Hollywood with all the paparazzi, the bodyguards and the lack of privacy would give them a sense of the downsides of fame

I respect the thought process but wow he doesn’t realize the amount of privilege that just drips off of this…

    16. You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both, and there you have the facts of life

    17. PurplePopcornBalls on

Why wouldn’t they get a fair shake? They may be hounded by reporters and photographers, but they would get more than their fair shake.

    18. “Farm”. So pastoral. Probably has 36 full time employees and million dollar bulls and horses etc and sits on hundreds of acres of verdant hillside.

    19. Don’t US actors usually move to France to avoid paying taxes? Living on a farm also helps with taxable income.

I know for a fact those frenchies give a shit about the hattrick Mbappe scored in the World Cup a couple of years ago.

His idea of a farm is way different than what normal people think. It’s an 18th century mansion that is 425 acres including a pool, tennis court, boules pitch, olive grove, 25 acre vineyard, a lake..not including all of their other homes in Italy, England, New York , California.

    22. I don’t think fame is the problem when you raise your children in grotesque wealth without ever a want or need and not having to interact with anyone unlike themselves.

    23. iamacheeto1 on

It’s not the fame that gives you a fair shot in life!

It’s the *money* George. The *money*

George Clooney’s parents are beloved in Cincinnati and N Kentucky, and by all accounts, they raised their kids to have a sense of humility and responsibility. They still live in the area, and at least up until a few years ago, George’s mom Nina had an antique shop in Augusta KY, where she worked the counter and chatted with customers. Truly lovely people.

    25. Amal was born in Lebanon and raised in the U.K., so it makes sense they’d want to raise their kids outside the USA.

    26. 🙄they strive for fame, get it, then start their high and mighty morality dissing their fans and other snobby stuff. I would be willing to wager that his son will profit from his fame no matter where they live.

    27. UnrealisticPersona on

lol – their father is a wealthy actor, won’t the world think of them just a little

    28. Hold up: I didn’t realize him and his wife had kids! I thought they were DINKs

    29. Killerkurto on

While I support any efforts to raise his kids in the best environment possible, I don’t know why he believes the children of Rich supremely famous people won’t be given a fair shake. I would argue his kids will have more opportunities and advantages than most.
