At what point do we riot? They are taking the fucking piss.
> … assumptions about the cost of equity – the return given to shareholders – were lower than those used by Ofgem, the regulator for energy companies. The CMA could therefore decide to increase the allowance for spending.
So more expensive water to pay for dividends. I’m sure zero privacy Kier will get right on that after he forces digital ID on us.
Mine just doubled. How much more of this absolute daylight robbery are we expected to tolerate? What is the point of government again?
People on here raving for privatisation. Do you actually understand the shape and state of the infrastructure under your feet?
Water is the most precious resource on earth.
Did you riot when energy bills tripled? No. Just grumbled on Reddit.
There are real concerns about how much water we have, so the money is (on the whole) being used to invest in reservoirs, desal and other drinking water practices.
I get it, water use to be cheap(er) because the regulator capped the cost. Which in turn capped the investment.
This is basic guys. Basic.
Underinvestment for years due to Ofwats priority on low bills coming home to roost.
So far the government have announced their two priorities for water being “ensuring the much needed investment in our water infrastructure” and “ensuring bills do not rise”
Without specifics, I can’t see how these are compatible and specifics from this government are not forthcoming
