    1. A couple of top tips for avoiding these excessive fees…

      1) Pay your penalty charge notices on time.

      2) Avoid the PCNs altogether by not parking where you shouldn’t.

No one should ever get a private parking penalty charge. Put up barriers and have a pay on exit system so people only have to pay for the time they use.

But that would destroy the parking company’s business plan which is nothing to do with providing parking and everything to do with trying to catch out as many people as possible with these legally dubious penalty charges.

Fines don’t exist to recoup operating costs. Fines exist for punitive reasons. A fine collection entity doesn’t need to balance its books for pretty much the same reason a government service like the NHS can’t be described to be „losing money“.

I’d be happy if they put all parking commissariate in stocks and we could throw offal at then.

One of these companies sent me countless fines this year because their shitty system didn’t understand I had a season ticket.

Even after proving I had the right to park there I had to have a back and fourth with the land owner to confirm I had the right to park there.

Same fines continued weeks after the first was resolved, took them months to solve their systems issues. I live in a city so I don’t even have the choice to park elsewhere.
